Yesterday I told you about some color combinations I was playing with. It so happened that while I was playing with them I went ahead and stamped out a few samples using Roses in Winter. I know, not another Roses in Winter card – well, I haven’t done one for a while and sometimes colors just hit me and make me try them with the roses. I was hoping to get both samples made yesterday, but as luck would have it I was running the roads delivering Kate here and there. I finally pulled in the garage on my last trip yesterday at 6:30. It was 8:00 before I knew it and time for Idol (which of course, I had to plop my fluffy butt down on the couch and watch)!

Imagine my elation this morning when I pulled up the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast and could actually use a big panel today in the sketch – WOO HOO I’m able to kill two birds with one stone!

Here is my first sample for you. Smooshed (not my term, but StamperSharon’s who perfected this technique) Roses in Winter stamped in Cameo Coral, rock n’ rolled with Pumpkin Pie, stamped off once, then stamped on Whisper White. The leaves were stamped in Mellow Moss and the small flowers are stamped in Barely Banana. All the layers were stamped in matching colors with the cardstock using Flannel Plaid for the Barely Banana layer, and Weathered for the Mellow Moss layers. The edges of all the different layers were distressed and then sponged with Ranger Walnut Distress Ink. French Script was stamped (at the last minute – well, cause I just can’t leave well enough alone) in the Walnut Distress Ink over the roses. I actually think I off stamped the French Script close to four times and wish I had gone another time, just to make it lighter on the roses. I suppose I should add, that the Flannel Plaid layer is mounted to the card face, the ribbon is attached over the top. The next layers of Weathered are mounted on dimensionals with the ribbon attached at an angle over the top to meet the first layer of ribbon. The rose panel is then mounted on dimensionals.
