Happy Monday! I honestly cannot remember the last time I did a Try a New Technique Challenge on Splitcoast. I’ll have to go back and look through my gallery, but I would venture to say it’s been at least 5-6 months or so. Todays challenge is called Tapestry of Life, and the goal today is to use Beate’s Tapestry Technique to create your card. I have to admit that I’ve never tried this technique before, so I was excited to try it.

I modified the tutorial just a tad to fit my stamping style, using sea sponges and sponging color onto the cardstock with a damp sponge. Of course, when you do this, your ink doesn’t stay wet very long. After I stamped the dragonfly image in white, I heat set the entire image panel so that I could stamp Versamark over the panel. I tried it the other way first (covering the image with clear EP without the Versamark – it only stuck to the white ink), that example is in the trash can now! I had some scraps of Crate Paper (that I got from Jacksonbelle Embellishments some time ago) and fibers laying around after last week, so that’s what I used to make this card. The edges were distressed using a pair of craft scissors, all the panels were sewn together on the sewing machine, and the image panel is raised on mounting tape.

The stamp set I used today is a new one I just got from Lizzie Anne Designs. It’s called au Naturale.

One word of caution – YOU CANNOT sew a panel embossed with clear EP to another piece of paper!!!!!!!! Hehe I tried this morning.
