Happy Friday! It’s been rather a long week for me. At least it feels like it anyway. For some reason I’m just not sleeping longer than a few hours each night and then I crash and burn in the afternoons. Maybe if I could keep from falling asleep at 4:00 every afternoon it might help! I generally leave the studio about 3:00 or 3:30, head to the sofa, a fresh cup of coffee in hand to settle down to watch Reba and WHAM I wake up and it’s already 5ish. My daughters tell me I need to go take a walk instead of watching reruns of Reba – I tell them I’ve been on my feet all day, I need to sit down instead. Which leads to a question? How do you guys stamp – are you sitters or are you standers? I’m a stander and a mover! I need to walk from one end of the counter to the other, turn here, turn there. The only time I actually sit is when I’m coloring. There might be a little Tawdry Treat for someone who answers the question!

The first thing I did this morning, other than dog duty, was check the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast. Wow this was a toughy. Monochromatic (which wasn’t so hard) but NO EMBELLISHMENTS! For me, this is a challenge. I did a little faux stitching and made some scallops, but to me no ribbon, no brads – well someone in my family will love it, they can mail it in a regular envelope with no extra postage. Instead of using the Matt Pack for the faux stitching, I took the thread and bobbin out of my sewing machine and just ran a line of no stitching down the top of one of the panels. Then I went back and drew in the stitching lines with a white gel pen. In my eyes, real stitches would be embellishments.

  1. What a pretty card with no embellies. I’m a sitter when I stamp. I have a small stamp room though, and everything is within my reach in my spinning office chair. I do usually get up and reach for this or that, but for the most part my patootie is parked in my chair while I’m stamping. 🙂

  2. I love the card Sherry. All your work is great. I usually sit while I stamp.

  3. I didn’t know cards could be so cute with the embellishments!! Great job. Like the other girls, I sit while I stamp. Maybe I should try standing and walking…..isn’t that considered exercise?? 😉 Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Fab card, as usual. Well, if my chair is piled up with stuff, I sit at least part of the time. But, I am getting up and cutting and looking for things a lot. I almost always stand to actually do the stamping.

  5. Hi,

I love all of your creations, they are so beautiful. I am especially fond of Millie and the witty sentiments that you create for her. You seem to help me make my wish list longer every day. Thanks for the inspiration!

Call me lazy! I sit and roll back and forth from the computer to the scrap table etc… The only time I get up is if I have absolutely have to!

  6. I have a dedicated craft room – lucky me!!! Most of the time while there I am standing..sitting..standing…just like everyone else – I prefer to sit while I stamp! Great card…and I agree stitching is an embellishment – you done good!!!

  7. WOW – I love your color combination! Great card.
I am a sitter – but I am up and down getting supplies! I have a stamping room but I have to keep getting up to get different items I need. I don’t have it all handy on my table. I really try to at least every few days to put everything in its original home so I get to start ‘fresh’ the next time I get a few minutes to stamp!

  8. I’m like you. I stand to stamp because when I sit, I can’t stamp straight…does that make sense? But when I color, I sit for sure.

I totally understand about not sleeping much at night. 6 hours is my max and that’s on a good night. Unfortunately I work full time so I can’t take a nap (as much as I would like to) in the afternoon. I think it’s my age and is has to be hormonal…lol

Love your cards (all of them) especially the one posted today! Great job, as always.

  9. Beautiful card, Sherry. I stamp at the dining room table, so I sit, since it’s the right height. But not everything is within reach, so I’m up & down a lot. When I teach or hold a workshop, I stand – just feels more comfortable that way.

  10. I’ve just recently discovered your blog, and what a treat for me! I love the card you did for today’s challenge. You did an awesome job without embellishments…I know how tough that can be. As far as my stamping goes, I do a little of both, sitting as well as standing. Have a great Friday!

  11. Like you, I usually only sit when I’m coloring. I’m definitely a *stand up stamper*. Cutting paper, positioning the stamp….some things are just better done standing up IMHO.

Your card is fabulous…and it definitely didn’t need any embellishments to make it so special.

  12. First of all no matter how you stamped, sitting or standing it would be fantabulous!
Secondly, this whole standing and stamping thing is just wacky:) I have never seen anyone do this and I myself am a sitter. Where would I stamp, in the kitchen??
    LOL

  13. I’m a roller. Sitting in an office chair rolling to anything that’s out of reach. Great card. It would be very hard to work without any embellies!

  14. I’m a “standing stamper’ too! I have to do too much reaching-turning-twisting-leaning to sit and stamp….plus it seems that I feel more “inspired” while I’m on my feet. I do sit down to watercolor if it’s a larger, more detailed image, though, but that’s about it…..and even then I start out standing….and only end up sitting when I get a nasty ‘catch’ in my neck. You do such beautiful work, Sherry….every single creation you make inspires me! A Tawdry Treat would be great……but a ‘real-life, actual Bad-Sherry original?!?!….one of those I would consider myself lucky to have!! (And would probably frame it to boot!) Thanks for always putting so much of ‘you’ into your blog…..it means so much to all of us!! Pam

  15. This one is a beauty! I’m so excited, because I’m heading to a SU workshop tomorrow and this set is on my list to order.

I’m a sitter when I stamp. My craft room is pretty small, so I’ve got pretty much everything within reach. The only time I need to jump up is to dig through my piles and piles of stamp sets.

    Have a great weekend!

  16. This turned out so pretty! I love the colors and layout! Wonderful job with the challenge!

  17. Sherry, I love your cards and your creative “juices”! I sit when I stamp! But move around getting things all the time.

  18. Gorgeous card. No fair though. My stitching lines never look this good.

  19. Sherry, this is absolutely gorgeous!

  20. What a lovely card. Love the way you hi-lighted with your white gel pen. TFS

I am like you and stamp standing up. I have the hight of my guillotine table set up for me to use without bending over (much easier on my back) and I tend to do everything there as my proper work area/table is so cluttered. Like you I prefer to colour sitting down and try to do this while watching my favourite TV show but often end up doing that standing up.

  21. OK Sherry, you solution to exhausting yourself out would be those shoes with rollers in them. You could still stand, but instead of using up your energy running from end to end you could just roll yourself around. See, then you’d have all kinds of energy and still sleep at night. Now, why didn’t I think of this sooner????? LOL!

  22. I was a sitter but then I realized that I get more done if I can move around and stand to do stuff. But with doing that I notice I am also exhausted after standing and moving for a few hours. I tried getting a higher roll around chair, almost bar stool height and I have to say I like that much better.

  23. Very nice! I like the colors you chose too.

  24. This is gorgeous, Sherry! I love the swirly butterfly trail! And, oh, these beautiful blues — yum!

I sit and stand, both, when I work. I stand to emboss, cut and stamp (I like to look straight down at my project when I stamp and glue layers) but I take every opportunity to sit, as well. Also, I don’t sleep worth a darn at night anymore and the alarm goes off at 6:00 and I have to get up and get ready for work. Work till 5:00 and then do everything else. It’s wearing me down! Believe me, you wouldn’t fall asleep in the afternoons if you weren’t sleep deprived so go ahead and take that nap. I doubt if that little old one hour nap is what’s keeping you up at night. It sounds like you need it!

  25. This card is so pretty! I guess I’m a sitter…LOL. That’s better than a squatter, no? 😉

  26. Sherry! This is Beautiful!!!
