One Down, One to Go!

Published by Sherry Cheever at 2:31 pm under Challenges

I can’t believe it’s been a week since I’ve posted. It was definitely a busy week for this mom. Wednesday was moving day for our youngest daughter and I had a lot to do getting Mallory ready to leave home. There was shopping for the last minute things, laundry and sitting on my flabby fanny watching her pack. We left around noon on Wednesday to take her to college, and her check-in time was between 3:00 and 5:00. Luckily, there were a couple of boys helping to carry stuff up to the dorm rooms, and by the time Lance and I got our cars parked, they had most of the stuff carried up. It took us just a couple of hours to arrange the room and put things away.

Mallory just has a way with looks sometimes, and this is one I often get — what is a mother to do but take pictures!

The Look

Kate went along and her main job for the day was getting the laptop online and ready to go for her computer-challenged sister.

Just before we left to go have dinner together one last time, I was able to get the girls together one last time for the day.

Needless to say, I’ve already had a few calls and emails about things she would like to have that we forgot. So I have a shopping list together and ready to run some errands in the morning. I’m working on her first care package, and needed to make a card to send along. See there is some stamping in this post! Mallory loves the little penguins from Inky Antics, and I never had a chance to make a card with any of them before she left, so here’s the card that I’m going to send along with her package. I hope she gets a kick out of it!

With babies at home here, it is hard to imagine saying “have fun at college!” Congratulations to all of you, and know that you and your daughter will be in my thoughts and heart as she tackles her new challenges!

Dear Goddess of Badness…. I would love to see more of the cards you send to the kids in college — I try to send mine something, a card, once a week… Love ideas! Just bought a way cool skeleton stamp at Recollections — is it too soon to send Halloween cards?

The girls look like they’re gonna be just fine, Sherry. So how are YOU doing, since this is your first time as an empty-nester?! I know that they’ll both be coming home for breaks and holidays and such, but now you’re home by yourself during the day. How does it feel? I feel like I can ask you this because we’ve been through this (and survived) with our 3 daughters, all 2 years apart. So we had 8 college years, the middle 4 years with two in college. But we all survived, all are gainfully employed in their fields (they’re all teachers, as are the two sons-in-law), and they all live within 50 minutes of our house. We’re also expecting our first grandchild in February. God is good!!

Enjoy having the house to yourself for a time - are you gonna stamp a bunch?

Awww…..I can’t even imagine my kids leaving the house yet.
Your girls look so cute together! Hugs!

The card is fun and absolutely adorable!

This is a big event, isn’t it, Sherry? I hope you’re doing okay back at the home front. I love the picture of the two girls. Such beautiful smiles! A wonderfully cheerful card for Mallory, too. Just right!

    Hi Momma,
Thanks for my care package. I really like my card too. It is proudly displayed in my room. But those pictures of me aren’t cute…while except for the one with my tounge sticking out!
    love you!
