Post-It Note Holders

Published by Sherry Cheever at 5:45 am under Lizzie Anne Designs

Sometime a few years ago, I went shopping at a new artists exchange in Louisville. When Fisher Packing Company left Louisville, the plant was renovated and became the Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center. Not only are there shops and restaurants, but it is also home to more than 200 artist’s studios and galleries. You can walk through the studios, watch the artisans at work, and if the doors are open, pop in for a little chat. While walking through one of the boutiques that day, I stumbled upon a post-it note holder. Always on the look out for templates of any kind, I purchased the holder and then went home and made my own using the template.

Purchased

The pink cloth one is the one I purchased, and the stamped one if the one I made from cardstock. I made tons of these little things, gave some as RAKS, sold many at craft fairs over the holidays, and still make them for my family to give as small gifts. Now I have to admit that I’ve been looking for a way to make them more sturdy. One I mailed out was squashed in the mail (even though it was in a padded envelope), and I was appalled that someone received a gift from me that arrived in not so great shape.

A few weeks back, maybe a month or so (the memory fades fast these days), Diane Zechman (cookiestamper on SCS) was looking to start a blog and was having a guessing game of naming her blog. Well, I just couldn’t help myself and kept throwing some names out – Diane actually liked one of the names I suggested and send me a Cookie Crumb. Can you believe that the Cookie Crumb was a post-it note holder made with chipboard. I expressed my delight to Diane about the post-it note and marveled at the design. She said that she had gotten the idea from Cambria. All I can say is thank you ladies, because you both have given me a solution for making mine sturdier!

These are the ones I made last night using chipboard as the front and back. I have to say, that I am bouncing up and down with the new design. They won’t get squished in a purse or in the mail. I’ve had the Latte Cup from Lizzie Anne Designs for some time now and this is the first time it’s seen ink – WOO HOO! I’m thinking these might be nice for my mother to give as gifts to her coffee clatch ladies. I colored the image with Copic Ciao Markers and the paper is Periphery, one of the new papers from BasicGrey that you can find here. Coming back to edit, since I’ve already had a couple of questions about this, they are attached on the inside by one long piece of cardstock that has been scored in the middle. One more edit, I did not check Cambria’s blog before I posted this, and one of my readers brought to my attention that this is on her blog — so let’s give credit where credit is due, here’s Cambria’s AWESOME set!!!!

Those rock! So, the front and back are chipboard…how do you connect the two? Cardstock inside?

Sherry, these are fabulous. I was going to ask if you are using chipboard coasters or cutting your own, but I checked Cami’s tutorial and noticed she cut down the coasters. I guess either works, since they’re getting covered with dp.
