Possibilities with One Stamp!

Happy Tuesday! Boy it seems like the days are just flying by and I’m spinning more and more. It’s been a busy morning around here today and the more I do, the more behind I get! Hate days like this one, and I just found out I have a project deadline to meet in the next day. So once this post is complete, I’m hiding in the studio for a day or two.

I’ve been thinking some about the challenges on Splitcoast, and have decided that I need to try and complete them every day if possible. A few years ago when I first started doing the challenges, I was new to Splitcoast. The daily challenges were the first things I stumbled upon in the forums and got hooked immediately. I participated each and every day, learned new techniques and improved my stamping because of the challenges. If you look back, it’s hard to pick out a Dirty Dozen member that has not participated in the daily challenges. I feel I owe so much to Splitcoast and the challenges, and want to support the challenge hostesses in any way I can. The best way I know to do that, is to participate.

So, in my quest to participate as much as possible, today’s challenge is the Color Challenge. Emily picked some awesome colors today (Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi and Ruby Red) that just scream holidays. While I was in Texas, I picked up the Witch Shoes by Stampendous, knowing that there were so many possibilities with this stamp. I had been looking at it online for a few months, and when I saw it on the shelf - well that stamp just fell in my basket.

CC139

I stamped the image on watercolor paper in Black Stazon and water colored with reinkers. There are a few Stickles on the dresses to add a tiny little bit of bling too. The background paper is from the BasicGrey Dasher Collection that you can find here. I sewed the background panels together using my sewing machine (which I must give a nickname), and finished off with a little bit of ribbon. This was such a fun card to make today and I hope you see the humor in it – Holidays/Hollies. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! (Okay, so the thought just hit me, Holiday Hos – should have stamped Ho Ho Ho instead of Happy Holidays).

Stamps: Witch Shoes by Stampendous, SU Warmest Regards

Paper: Watercolor, SU Soft Sky and Ruby Red, BasicGrey Dasher Collection

Ink: Black Stazon, SU Ruby Red, Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi

Accessories: Reinkers, Sewing Machine, Watercolor Brushes, Mounting Tape, Ribbon, Crystal Stickles

    Fun card Sherry!!!

I so agree about the SCS Challenges. They are the best school of stamping out there! Kudos to all the Hostesses for keeping us busy and making our creative juices flow.

PS on the challenges. I could not agree wit you more. Anything I know and any accomplishment I have made in stamping is due to the exposure and experience of playing with the daily challenges. I have missed them way more that I would have ever thought by trying to keep up with other commitments. I will return to them regularly when I can as I believe they are what continually spark my creativity. Great point in your article!!!!!

One other point on the challenges. I have made a raft of wonderful friends by participating in the daily challenges. You being one of my most favorite.

Good point about the daily challenges at SCS! I, too, owe a lot to my growth from all the amazing stampers on SCS, you being one of them. As I indicated in your SCS gallery, I love this card. You are such a funny (and bad) woman! LOL!

How verrrry clever of you. You are so “bad” ;-) Love the card! I have had other commitments of late and have been a little quiet with the challenges, but they are so helpful and really do push us out of the personal limits. Thanks to all for what you do.

Hi Sherry ~ You must have a great *knack* for finding the perfect stamps to match your !BAD! reputation {wink}. Those Witchy-Ho’s shoes and stockings are perfect and what a fun card.
Kinda reminds me of that girl stamp you were using a while back, that you nick-named “Wednesday” … she is all I can visualize lately in some of my crazier cards, but I can’t find her. And since no one seems to be ~blabbing~ as to when the RubberNecker web site is going to be back up and running …. well I guess I’ll just keep hoping it’s soon rather then later :)
Love your Blog Sherry ~ you always crack me up :)
