Good Monday morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the Super Bowl Game. The kids came in and watched the game, while doing their homework. They also brought my cabinet from the river. It needs a coat of paint but in order to get things organized before I leave next Saturday, I went ahead and loaded in the SU stamps.

China Cabinet

Anyhoo, you can see how it is going to look in the room. If I remember correctly, my mother used this cabinet as a china cabinet when we were younger. My sister, Carrie, tried to climb it and it fell on top of her. I don’t think she was hurt and I can’t remember if anything was broken. Maybe she’ll chime in here and let us all know!

On an exciting note today, Rubbernecker Stamp Company announced the January winner of the $100 Rubbernecker Bucks yesterday. CONGRATULATIONS KELLY FIGLEY OF NEW CASTLE, PA!!!!!

I checked out the Try a New Technique Challenge on Splitcoast this morning and even though it looks like a fun one, I just don’t have time to participate today. However, I do have some stamping to share with you. One of the new sets released by Lizzie Anne Designs recently is Far East. I have to say I absolutely love this set. Luckily I still had some BasicGrey Blush left and it all goes so well together.

Far East Cherry Blossoms

I cut the ovals out with Nestabilities first, and then stamped the tree branch in Jumbo Java on Very Vanilla cardstock. The flowers were stamped over the dots on the branch in Pixie Petunia. I eyeballed them, which is why they are a little off-center in some spots. Not only that, but the final version was maybe the fifth try. The card is 4 x 6.5 and will fit in a standard letter size envelope. I don’t know why I didn’t think about using the square Nesties to cut out the layered scallop, probably because I have just started using them more. Next time I’ll remember!

Stamps: Far East from Lizzie Anne Designs

Paper: SU Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip, Prism Island Mist Light, BasicGrey Blush

Ink: VersaMagic Pixie Petunia and Jumbo Java

Accessories: Nestabilities, Fiskars Cloud Edged Scissors, Ribbon, Mounting Tape

Here’s the product I used to make the card.

Feb 3 Product

If anyone knows where I can get a good deal on Nestabilities, I would love to hear about it. I need to add to my collection.

  1. I think the cabinet looks great with that used “patina.” People pay lots of money for a finish like that! 😉

I’m anxious to hear about where to find a good deal on Nestabilities as well….! Although I’m looking to START with a set or two — any recommendations as to the best sets to start a collection?

  2. I love that old cabinet, Sherry. I think it would be so cool to paint it white and then distress it some to mock the old look but yet still have a fresh appearance. My oldest sister climbed up in my mother’s cabinet when she was baby and pulled the whole thing down on her. She was not hurt badly but almost all of the dishes were broken. When my sister was raising her two kids that were hell on wheels, she always said God was paying her back for all she did to mother.

  3. If you go to http://www.cutathome.com. Sign up to be a VIP at the top of the page where it says 40% VIP coupon and once a month they e-mail you a 40% off coupon. Then you can order a Nestability at 40% off. You can only order 1 a month, but it is a good deal. Hope that helps!!

  4. Love the cabinet!! I have one exactly like it in my stamp room that houses all my alterables. It was my grandmothers along time ago and was passed down to me. I repainted mine to freshen it up and I just love it!! Thanks for sharing all the great photo’s of your new room! Mine is gonna get a make over this coming weekend. LOL

  5. I see someone recommended it already but cutathome.com is where friend’s of mine have been ordering from and they are quite happy. Especially as you can use the 40% off coupon once a month. Kristi was also talking of getting them in, perhaps you could ask her when you see her at CHA.

I love the cabinet and the rustic feels that it has. Looks like it will be great storage.

  6. Hello “Your Royal Badness”…I picked mine up from Cut@home. As mentioned above. You sign up with Marcie’s website and she sends you an e-mail that includes a 40% off coupon that can be used on pretty much anything on the site.

  7. Love how worn that cabinet is. That’s a real jewel. I was just checking out Nestabilities at Ellen Hutson. They have some great discounts.

  8. That cabinet is gorgeous! You have such great pieces in your new room! I love your card too…the new LAD set goes great with the BG paper…love it!

  9. okay, so I am the sister that climbed the cabinet, really don’t know if I was hurt or not, but that sure explains why I am as crazy as I am. Kittie, I say that same saying your sister says, but that is why I never had kids, I don’t think I could stand being paid back as much as I give. Sherry that is a beautiful room!!!

  10. Beautiful card, Sherry! Love those colors and the scallops!
Are you SURE you want to paint that wonderful cabinet?? I love it the way it is!!!

  11. Love the cabinet! The card is adorable! And for Nestabilities, I too recommend cut@home. You can’t beat 40% off!

  12. great cabinet and beautiful card… thank you for your wonderful baddness shared on my blog…

  13. Ooooooh, pretty card! Love the colors and the layered ovals. Your cabinet looks perfect for your room. You sure make me anxious to get started on remodeling my small stamp room. I’ll bet you’re enjoying the heck out of all that space!

  14. Sherry, I have bought some from PaperTrey and Cutathome. Cut at home is definitely less expensive. I’ve reordered from them, they are great.
