Good Tuesday morning. If you’ve missed me the last couple of days, there is good reason. I was off working in the Rubbernecker Booth at the Gateway Rubber Stamp Getaway. What a busy but fun weekend it was. On Saturday we were descended upon by a group of Splitcoaststampers. I can’t remember all the names, and I apologize for that – what is that called, CRS? Let me see, there was Tami Mayberry (who I had not had the pleasure of meeting before), Judy Sumner, part of the Shoebox Swap group, who was also with Shirley Quarry a/k/a wannabecre8tive, Marla (is that right? – I know you’ll comment here and let me know! – hehe), and oh so many more. I’m sorry ladies but my mind is mush. Not only did I get to meet so many SCS’ers, but I got to spend time with Beth Warner a/k/a showmestamper, and Lynn Mercurio a/k/a Lynn in St. Louis. I had the opportunity to meet both Beth and Lynn at CHA in February, and they helped in the booth this past weekend. I didn’t get the chance to take many pictures, but here is one of me, Shirley, Lynn and Beth. We are showing off our inky fingers.

Since this is Tuesday, it’s also Treasure Hunt and Blogger Challenge day! If you are new to the Treasure Hunt, you’ll be able to find the first clue and all the deets on the Rubbernecker Home Page. Both Leigh and I have some blog candy for you today. After you are done visiting here, you’ll want to pop over to Leigh’s blog and leave a comment there for a chance too win a $10 Rubbernecker Gift Certificate. I also have a $10 Gift Certificate today, and in order to win all you have to do is leave me a comment.

RNBC Gift CardLet’s see, I’ve asked many questions before and I’m trying to think of something I’ve not asked you. How about flowers? My favorite flowers are actually any type of wildflowers. So, leave a comment and tell me what your favorite flower is. I’ll pick a winner tomorrow and will announce on Thursday morning.

The Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge, RBC13, is to use paint today. You can find all the information for playing along on Jeanne’s Blog, Inky Paws. You’ll also want to visit the blogs of Kittie, Candy, Linda, Tami, Shelly and Broni to check out their samples for this week’s challenge.

My challenge card today is a technique that I messed around with while in the booth over the weekend.

RBC13

I used the largest fragment from the Tim Holtz Fragments package, and covered the back with Denim Distress Crackle Paint. After it dried, I painted over the top of the crackle paint with a Lemonade Acrylic Paint Dabber to highlight the cracks in the crackle. The flower and sentiment are stamped on the front side of the Fragment in Archival Jet Black ink. To highlight the edges and finish off the piece, I went along the edges and just the tiniest bit on top with a gold leaf pen. The fragment is then raised with mounting tape on the background panel. To make the background panel, I cut triangles from two different pieces of BasicGrey Two Scoops, and stitched them together on a piece of Wild Wasabi.

  15. Ooh, what a wonderful card! I love what you’ve done with the fragment! The colors are so pretty! It sure would have been fun to watch you in action at the stamp show last weekend.

As for my favorite flower I can’t pick just one. Since I live in Minnesota and our season is so short I truely love all of the perennials! You have to enjoy them all everyday because they might be buried under snow tomorrow. 🙂

  16. Such a beautiful piece of art. It looks like something from the 40’s.

  17. Great photo of you girls!! Looks like so much fun!

Sherry, your card is so wonderful! I just love the look you got with the crackle paint and the dauber paint over it on the fragment! Gorgeous!

  22. Hey..you didn’t mention meeting me at the Akron show!!! Am I not important enough for your blog. 🙁 Just kidding!!

My FAVE are stargazer lilies!! LOVE them and they smell so good.

My hubby, who could care less about flowers, really, actually comments on them every year! (Don’t tell him I actually just wrote that…he is homophobic and thinks that liking flowers is sort of gay.I know…..)

  23. Oh my goodness! This is gorgeous and so you!!!!!!!!!

  24. Wow, Sherry what an awesome card! Love the colors and how you did the fragment. Beautiful creation – my brain is mush after the weekend and I didn’t do all the demo’ing and traveling you did. You go girl!!! After seeing you gals in action I can’t wait to get my order of crackle paints and distress re-inkers and Jeanne’s stamps from Rubbernecker (had some technical difficulty running credit cards both days – just didn’t have that kind of cash on me LOL). Had tons of fun with you gals.
Hmmm… my favorite flower. That’s a tough one because I love them all but roses, hydrangeas, lilacs, gerber daisies, and calla lilies are high on my list.
Good luck with getting caught up on projects. Have a great week!

  25. Hi Sherry…My favorite flower here in sunny California is the Zinnea. For so long I had such a black thumb until I started planting zinneas. Now I plant 3 flats each may (144 plants) each May and my gardens look spectacular until late fall. I love your Rubbernecker card today. It would make a beautiful ceramic tile design!

  26. Wow! I love that technique. I am going to have to try it out. 🙂 My favorite flower is a Carnation. My dad used to bring them home for my mom in all different colors.

  27. Love your card! I like wild flowers – but any flower will do! It’s almost my favorite thing to stamp! Can’t wait to meet you at the stamp convention in Orlando!

  28. I love your card!! So much work goes into these creations and no one realizes it unless you tell the process or we have done one ourselves!! Mine are usually quickies since I am always behind!!

My favorite wildflower?? This sounds stupid but I love Dandelions!! It’s probably not a flower but a weed however, I love them! They are so delicate and are gone with one good wind! Other than those, I love the yellow jasmines!

Thanks for sharing all your creations and how to do them!

  33. Absolutely love this card. Have never had the opportunity to use Tim Holz Fragments or the crackle paint. Now I will make a point to. My favorite flowers are lilacs. My yard is surrounded by them and in the spring all I have to do is open the windows and the whole house smells of their lovely fragrance.

  34. WOW! WOW! WOW!!! you’re killing me… This is absolutely gorgeous my friend. I need to learn how to use the crakle paint for sure. Beautiful card Sherry.

  35. What a great card! Your techniques are amazing! I love wild flowers too. I especially like lilies of the valley. My grandparents had so many growing around their house, the lily of the valley always brings back memories of my childhood. Thank you for the chance to win Rubbernecker bucks. I am looking for an excuse to place another order. Winning your Blog Candy would be just that.

  36. Hi Sherry, Beautiful card.

I love the delicacy of queen ann’s lace, the vibrancy of poppies and the grandeur of purple iris’s. Then the fragility of the bleeding heart and the boldness of the peony.

  37. Me, me! You chatted with me! *hands waving wildly in air* Yes, I was the nutty SCSer that had you sign that gorgeous tag you made! 😀 It was so totally exciting to meet other SCSers at the Getaway! (You and Lynn)

    Oh and Sherry, yes you are VERY BAD! As in VERY GOOD! Love your work (and I love MY tag!) {{HUGS}}

  43. Hey Sherry! I’m sorry it seems like forever since I’ve been by. We’ve started our summer here sick. I’ve been pretty much out of commission for over a week! Wow! You’ve been busy! Such amazing beauty on your blog! Everything is gorgeous! …ok…except for the muddy puppy who I’m sure was just as cute as can be after the quick shampoo! What a day for you! I hope all is well with you and that you guys are staying dry! I can’t remember how far away you are from us. I hope you aren’t dealing with any flooding your way! Take care and have a wonderful day! 🙂

  44. Wow! I love this! Fragments, hmmmmm….very cool! Great effect and looks pretty easy. I think I found some kind of crackle paint in my cupboard but I still need to try it out. Love your card, Sherry!
