Good morning!Ā  Smiley from millan.net I hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend, whether it was spent with family or just lolling around.Ā  Mallory was home for the weekend and went back to school early yesterday afternoon.Ā  We missed Kate being here because she had to work over the weekend, but she did drop by for a quick visit yesterday.Ā  Her Aunt Carrie had made her a plate of leftovers from the barbecue, so she had to come by.Ā  All and all, it was a nice and relaxing weekend. Smiley from millan.net

I finally made it into the studio last night.Ā  I was too darn busy lying on the couch watching the Murder She Wrote Marathon – oh and napping just a bit.Ā  Iā€™ve had so much fun playing with new techniques lately, and I decided to use one of my favorites for todayā€™s card, brushless watercolor.Ā  This also happens to be the September Technique Challenge on Tim Holtzā€™ blog.

Before I show you my card today, I need to remind you that itā€™s Smiley from millan.net Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker.Ā  You can find the clue and all the necessary information and other deets on the home page.Ā  Donā€™t forget to check out the weekly sale product, too!Ā  I have blog candy today, but donā€™t forget to visit the other designers as well.Ā  Iā€™ll be giving away two $10 Rubbernecker Gift Certificates this week.

To have a change at winning, leave me a comment telling me what your favorite stamping technique is.Ā  Iā€™ll announce the winners on Wednesday.

Now for my card.Ā  If youā€™ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know I love to ink solid images, mist with water and then stamp.Ā  I started doing this a few years ago as a variation of the Misting with Markers and the Wet Paper Watercoloring Techniques on Splitcoaststampers.Ā  I like what Tim Holtz called this technique, Brushless Watercolor, because that is what it is.Ā  Itā€™s neither wet paper nor markers.Ā  Itā€™s stamping the ink pad on your image, misting the stamp with water, and then stamping on dry watercolor paper.Ā  For a variation, I did add some ink splatters using a toothbrush.Ā  Now that was fun!

  1. Stunning Sherry, I saw his Sept. post and haven’t tried it yet.

  2. Gorgeous, Sherry! I love the watercolor effect.

  3. This is very pretty . . . but it all sounds foreign to me as a newbie stamper. LOL šŸ™‚ I really appreciate the tips and tutorials that you all share. I had NO idea there was no much to learn, and yet you can make some very pretty cards with simple techniques as well. THAT would be where I am at right now. Thanks so much for a chance to win.

  4. Love this easy and elegant-looking technique; your card turned out beautifully Sherry. It’s a technique I like to use when making sympathy cards, sounds morbid, but the design is what counts šŸ™‚ Gigi

  5. Great card, Sherry. This is one technique that I have not tried, but I love the look of watercolor so it is now on my “to do” list! My personal favorite stamping technique is “Paper Tole”, I LOVE the 3-D look! Thanks for sharing your technique, off to check the sale at Rubbernecker!

  6. Hi Sherry
My favorite technique is good old fashioned watercoloring with an aquapainter. I’ve done this technique before too though and love the effect. Your card is gorgeous!

  7. Favorite technique…hmmmm…probably dry embossing. But I love watercoloring and wet embossing and black magic and the list goes on! Such an incredibly beautiful card!!!

  8. Beautiful, I have yet to try this technique, thanks for the inspiration!

  11. Beautiful Sherry as always! šŸ™‚

  12. Can you believe that I have never tried this technique? (quit rolling your eyes…yeah….I know that would require me to stamp!!)
This is lovely…I like the more earth tone colors (and the ribbon….sigh….)
My fav technique….currently it would seem to be coloring with copics, and using acetate/transparency sheets
    ok…..off to check Tim’s blog!

  13. My favorite technique is embossing resist. My friends on SCS know this well…seems like every other card in my gallery uses this technique! LOL I love Rubbernecker stamps so much – so thanks for the chance to win blog candy!

  14. Such a beautiful card and these stamps are perfect for this technique! One of my favorite techniques is the pencil over ink where you stamp in white on dark cardstock and then color over it with colored pencils. I’d love to win!

  15. Great card Sherri! My Favorite technique is heat embossing, however, I just tried the bleach technique for the first time yesterday & I think I’m hooked! Thanks for the chance to win some candy!

  16. I love your card – very pretty. I like this technique with the watercolor crayons too. My favorite technique I think is Josephs Coat.

    Laura

  17. I love this misting technique but don’t do it enough. Your card is fab! Glad to hear you had a good weekend with Mallory too bad Katie couldn’t spend much time with you. Hard to believe its been a month since we were in Dallas. Oh yeah, my favorite technique is lurking ……..lol ….. I still love watercoloring but have been spending more time with copics and less time with watercoloring lately.

  18. Your card is beautiful! I’ve got to make myself try this technique. I guess my fave technique right now is just embossing. It’s the only one I’ve used recently šŸ˜€

  19. […] Rubbernecker today.Ā  Iā€™m also offering a chance to win some Rubbernecker Gift Certificates in my earlier post […]

  20. My favorite technique?? I am still trying to learn how to mask off so that I can stamp twice!! So considering that, I like anything that I can do without help!
Love your card and thanks for chance to win! Glad you had a lazy Labor Day!

  21. Lovely artwork Sherry! My favorite technique is just plain ole coloring whether w/pencils or Copics or twinks, etc.

  22. My standby technique is just coloring a stamped image with whatever coloring medium I want to at the time. I do like to try(or revisit) new techniques when I see cool looking cards on blogs like yours!

  23. Ooh blog candy!! My fave technique right now is emboss resist! Thanks so much.

    Angie

  24. Great card, Sherry – as usual! My fav technique right now is using Prisma pencils and OMS. I also like the brushless watercolor for a quick & fun application.

  25. Great card- love the watercolor technique, I’ll have to try that out! As for my favorite stamping technique, right now I am all about embossing again. I love to emboss creepy spiderwebs and halloweenie characters.

  26. I love using shaving cream with my cardstock

  27. This rocks!! I love how this technique came out here!!
    COOL colors!!

  28. I really don’t know if this *classifies* as a “*Stamping Technique*”, but it’s my favorite thing to do, especially when I’m working with a very delicate design that has all sorts of pieces and shapes. My favorite technique is Paper Piecing :0)

For some reason, it kinda reminds me of when I was a young child, playing with Paper Dolls. WOW that brings back major memories… I would hope my Mom or Dad would buy me a paper doll book when they’d go out shopping//errands//etc., that contained all the figures/characters and all their clothes. I swear it would keep me busy for days, and even now when I see something similar or something called “Paper Dolls” in a store, I HAVE to stop and check it out.

Wouldn’t it be SO cool if more stamp companies brought that pass-time back? I know “Magnolia Stamps” kinda has one, but it’s still not the same. How can the younger children these days expect to develop and mature correctly, when they haven’t been exposed to the ‘real’ Paper Doll. šŸ™‚ HA HA!

I’d love to hear if anyone knows of other Paper Doll images using stamps ~ please Email me if you can or let the ~~**QUEEN of BADNESS**~~ know!!!

  29. My fave technique is heat embossing — but I’ve never done it yet! LOL It looks fun and I just love how it makes the cards look nicer. I hope to get a heat gun soon!

  30. This may be my favorite! It’s so very pretty! TFS! Have a great night! šŸ™‚

  31. Ahhhhhhh, beautiful and inspiring! They almost look like pressed flowers. Gorgeous card!

  32. Drop dead gorgeous Sherry!
