Good Friday morning!  There’s a few things going on today that already have me hopping.  The first thing, Rubbernecker Stamp Company has joined Paper Craft Planet.  Yes, Shelly and I have been working for the last few days setting up a Rubbernecker Group and getting organized.  I was having a few technical difficulties and if it wasn’t for Shelly, I would still be pulling out what little hair I have left.

Anyhoo, if you are a fan of Rubbernecker and want to discuss ideas, techniques or just generally chat with the Design Team, head on over to Paper Craft Planet and join the Rubbenecker Group.  We would LOVE to have you!!!!

Today is also my turn to post another Friday Focus on the Rubbernecker Blog.  Today’s Focus is Reverse Masking and below is my completed card for the project.  You can find all the info for the technique on the Rubbernecker Blog.

Friday Focus Reverse Masking Card

Once I had the front of the card finished, I pierced holes around the masked oval shape and then along the sides of my card front.  The top panel is mounted on foam tape.

I hope you have a great day and a good weekend!

Happy Thursday!  I’ve had such a productive morning and I sure hope it keeps me going the rest of the day.  My new coffee pot (my sister gave me a Bunn for my birthday) was not flowing well this morning.  This darn hard water here had already caused some problems.  I found the little tool to clean the coffee maker, and went to it . . . works like a charm now.  I did learn that you should always check the sprayhead first, little bits of calcium build up in there clogging the water flow and that truly was the whole problem.

While I was waiting for the coffee maker to cool down, I did check in on today’s Splitcoaststampers Ways to Use it Challenge.  It’s a fun one today – use pearls (any type of pearls, i.e., Pearl Ex, Perfect Pearls, Liquid Pearls, Pearl stickers, Pearl brads).  Well, I have every color of Ranger Liquid Pearls – WOO HOO!

I received a few days ago some new stamps from my friends over at Our Craft Lounge and have been wanting all week to work with them.  Today is my chance!

WT193

I used the cupcake from Life is Sweet and colored it with Copic Markers.  I used Circle Nestabilities for the background for the cupcake and used the Scalloped Long Rectangle to cut the scalloped edge along the bottom of the cross piece.  For my pearls, I decorated all the scallops with a drop of White Opal Liquid Pearls.

  • Stamps: Life is Sweet from Our Craft Lounge
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; SU Basic Black, Pink Pirouette and Berry Bliss
  • Ink: Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black; Ranger Archival Jet Black; SU Pink Pirouette
  • Accessories: Copic Markers; Spellbinders Plain and Scalloped Classic Circles and Scalloped Long Rectangle Nestabilities; Ranger White Opal Liquid Pearls; Small Oval Punch; SU Pink Pirouette Ribbon; Venture Foam Tape

I’m heading back down to the studio since I feel so creative today.  Hope you enjoy your day and you feel creative as well!

Well, it’s taken all day but I finally got a card made.  I did start this morning on a very bright and cheery card . . . but, something happened and it just flew right into the trash can.  So, I decided to take a break then.  I hate it when I have an idea in my head and it doesn’t materialize.  Maybe because it was a bright and cheery card – duh!

Anyhoo, while mildly dozing on the couch an idea struck me and I trotted down to the studio.  Here it is, for better or for worse, my card for today’s Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge and the Rubbernecker Blog Challenge.  Shelly is the hostess for the blog challenge today, and she has challenged us to add some sparkle, glimmer or shine to our projects.

SC203

I stamped and embossed the poinsettias in Queen’s Gold EP.  They were then colored with Twinkling H20s and then painted a thin layer of Crystal Stickles over them.  I decided I wanted to cut the image out with some of the blooms hanging out, so using one of the Rectangle Nestabilities as a frame, I traced around it with a pencil.  This gave me the cutting lines that I needed.  I sponged the edges of the image and the background paper with Antique Linen Distress Ink, to age it just a little.  It pays to be a pack rat sometime . . . the ribbon is from a box of Ghiradelli Chocolates that I bought some time ago to use with another project.

I hope you had a great day!

Smiley from millan.netGood Wednesday morning, and YES I said we have winners.  Two winners to be exact of the Rubbernecker Gift Certificates!

Post No. 11 was from Gigi:

Selecting a favorite Christmas movie is easy, but it also gives away my age…ha ha! “It’s a Wonderful World” with Jimmy Stewart; that movie brings tears to my eyes each and everytime I see it. And, for the younger generation movie favorite, it’s “A Christmas Story.” Who can’t help laughing with that one? Thanks for giving away the “bucks”; sure hope I win because there are some neat-looking stamps I have an eye on ;-)

Smiley from millan.net LADIES!  I’ve emailed you both but if you see this and haven’t seen my email . . . well then, send me one to find out what you need to do to claim your Gift Certificate!

I’m heading down to the studio now and will be back a little later with a card today.  I still need to make my card for the Rubbernecker Blog Challenge.

Good Tuesday morning!  Smiley from millan.net Boy am I not prepared for today  . . . I was a bit of a slacker yesterday.  I had some necessary chores to take care of in the morning, phone calls needed to be made and then the morning was gone.  Of course, I had to catch up on everyone else’s problems so . . . I tuned into my soaps.  Argh you say  . . .  I know, I Know!  But oh their problems make mine look so tame  . . . by golly, I don’t even have any compared to theirs.  My baby hasn’t been switched; I haven’t been held a hostage or held at gunpoint; I haven’t been through a tornado recently; and as far as I know, I only have one other personality . . . BAD! Smiley from millan.net

So needless to say, today is Smiley from millan.net Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker and I don’t have a card ready.  Here’s my plan!  I’m going to do today’s Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers and then add the card to this post.  It works for me!  You can, however, find all the necessary info on the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog!

What I DO have today is blog candy!  Yes, I’m the lucky RN Designer that gets to give away some Gift Certificates today.  Did you see that, Gift CertificateS, plural . . . I have two $10 Rubbernecker Gift Certificates to give away today and you could be the lucky winner.

Bucks

During the holidays, I love to watch all the Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel.  I stay tuned every night so that I don’t miss a one.   So here’s how you can win one of these Gift Certificates — leave a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite holiday movie is.  For me this is a tough question.  I love them all but my favorites would have to be White Christmas and The Bishop’s Wife.  Even though I love A Christmas Story, I’m just a sucker for the old stuff.

I’ll be picking two winners and post them tomorrow.  I’ll also be back a little later with my card.  In the mean time, have a great day!

As promised, I’m back!  I finished my card up a few minutes ago . . . but can you believe that my battery died while taking the photos!  I suppose I hadn’t charged it since I went to Albuquerque – go figure.  (It certainly has made me giggle this afternoon)

The Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge today is to use Real Red, Basic Black and Kraft.  Well the first thing that came to my mind was Santa.  I also happen to have the new BasicGrey Wassail and knew that I would find something to work with those colors.

CC193

I colored the image of Santa with Copic Markers and then cut him out, along with the background panel, using Spellbinders Petite Ovals.  I sponged all the edges of the paper with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, and in particular the red paper.  It was just too bright and I wanted a more aged look.  I found a chipboard star and misted it with Vintage Photo/Gold Pearlized Distress Mist and then inked the edges with more Vintage Photo.  Two holes were punched in the star to tie ribbon through and then it was mounted on the front of the card with mounting tape.  Instead of sewing today, I felt a little black faux stitching was called for.

Oh and one more thing, Mr. Rubbernecker “Dave” sent me an email earlier and said he had put many of the Stamp Oasis Little Lovin’s and Winter Holiday stamps on sale!
