Hey y’all, I made it home from Dallas at 6:30 last night.  What a great time we had at the Gerards.  Ron and Bev are the most generous people I have ever met!  I always love spending time with them and feel right at home the minute I pull in their driveway.  Linda and I arrived around the same time on Thursday and it was such a pleasant surprise to find out that Sharon Harnist was picking us up at the airport.  When we arrived at Bev’s, Jenn Balcer and Lori Craig were there to visit.  Here’s a picture of the group . . . unfortunately, Broni didn’t arrive until early evening and missed visiting with the surprise visitors.

On Saturday our dear friend, Sharon Coleman emailed and came to visit both Saturday and Sunday.  Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of Sharon with us.  I don’t know what I was thinking  . . . more than likely, I wasn’t.  It was great fun to visit with Sharon again and spend some time with her!

The Rubbernecker Red Hot Mommas received many new things to work with.  Here’s just a sampling of what is new and upcoming.

I haven’t heard cheering like I did when Mr. Rubbernecker pulled out all that new rubber!  The new backgrounds will actually be released on Wednesday, April 1.  Exciting stuff!  Another great thing about the new releases . . . they are sets!  WOO HOO!!!!!

I have tons of stuff to do today so I better be off and get it done!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Which is why I do not have a card this morning to post for the Rubbernecker WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge!  Broni is the hostess today and she has a fabulous challenge for everyone.  Check it all out on the Rubbernecker Blog!  Each week we are giving away to three participants a coupon good for 25% your entire Rubbernecker Order.  If I find some time after my errands today, I’ll get something made.

Now for the fun stuff that I haven’t talked about at all!  The Rubbernecker Red Hot Mommas along with Mr. and Mrs. Rubbernecker are all heading to Texas!  Yep you heard right . . . . we are all going to be at one place, getting to know each other and simply having a grand time!  Stay tuned for some updates during the weekend, maybe a few pictures and perhaps even a video or two.

How is everyone today?  I’m glad my weekend has been quiet and relaxing.  Yesterday I was able to get out in the yard and finish my path through the flower bed.  The whole time I was working, the creative juices were flowing.  I’ve really let this flower bed go over the last few years and had forgotten how good I felt when working outside.

When I received the new Spellbinders Dahlia Nestabilities, the first thing I thought of was trying to make flowers with the Grunge Paper.  I had seen so many posts by Wendy Vecchi (Studio 490) with flowers made with Grunge Paper, and I couldn’t wait to try.  I finally got some Grunge Paper last week and last night went to work.  I chose not to make a card, but a wall hanging instead.  This will eventually hang in my studio!

Here’s a side view so you can see all the layers:

The base is a rectangle coaster that I sponged with Antique Linen.  Using the Tim Holtz Flourish Mask, I sponged over it with Vintage Photo and Walnut stain, sponging the edges with Vintage Photo.  Using various stamps from Studio 490, I over stamped the image to add interest.  The flower was made with Grunge Paper that was die cut with the Spellbinders Dahlia Nestabilities.  The front and back of each layer was inked with the same color and the top was stamped with script and music images.  To add some glitz to the flower, each layer was sprayed with coordinating pear shimmer mist.  Using a bone folder, the section of the flower was folded and scored so the flower would not lay flat.  The middle of the flower is a vintage clip-on earring that I found in the buttons that my Aunt gave me. I tore the clasp off and glued earring on with Ranger Glossy Accents.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for stopping by!  I’ve got a race to run . . .  Bristol!

I was tagged by one of my blogger friends, Jill Haddad.   The tag is to open the picture folder on your computer, open the 6th folder and then post the 6th card.

A few years ago, I undertook the task of scanning some old family photos and making albums for my sister and cousins.  The 6th photo in that folder, were of all us kids at one of our birthday parties.  I think maybe it was Carrie’s.

Left to right, Carrie (my sister), Billy (my cousin), Shannon on the trike (my cousin) and then me on the back of the trike.

For the heck of it, I thought it would be fun to show you the 5th and 7th as well.

Aunt Linda Trike

Uncle Billy Pool

My Uncle Billy helping himself to my pool, which I look none too happy about.

Now that I’ve had my walk down memory lane,

Here are the rules:
•Open your photo folder on your computer
•Open the 6th folder of photos
•Select the 6th picture
•Post the picture on your blog with a description
•Invite six friends to join the challenge
•Link your six friends to your blog post

I’ll play along and tag the following:

Broni, Kittie, Candy, Joan, Linda, and Gigi.

Hey y’all!  Smiley from millan.net I hope you’ve had a good past couple of days.  It was so gorgeous here on Wednesday that I spent the entire day Smiley from millan.net in the flower beds.  I’ve been sedentary for so long that every muscle in my body hurts, but it was rejuvenating to get dirt under my nails and be outside.

Because I have been enjoying myself outside, I’m a little late getting to the SCS Sketch Challenge this week.  But hey I finally got it done.

The background panels were cut, sewn to the Burgundy and then affixed to the front of the card.  The image was inked with Vintage Photo and then a Burgundy marker was used on the birds in the image.  The image and the layer behind it were cut and embossed with Spellbinders Small and Large Deckled Rectangles.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope it’s been a good day for you!
