Good morning! Smiley from millan.net I hope everyone enjoyed your holiday weekend!  I had the family in on the 4th for a cookout and some together time.  Of course, it rained so I set the grill up at the garage door and everything worked just great!  Good times with my girls, their boyfriends and my mother!

Sunday afternoon I felt the need to be creative, but didn’t know what I wanted to do.  I have projects that NEED to be done, but I was in the mood to play and not be too serious about it. Smiley from millan.net I thought about doing some water coloring, but silhouettes were calling me from across the room.  So I went to my SU cabinet, opened the doors, and there in front of me . . . . Inspired by Nature!

PurpleConeFlowersJuly6

I’ve gone through so much watercolor paper recently that it was difficult, but I did find one scrap that was the right size for the images.  The first thing I did was mist the watercolor paper with water and let it sit until semi dry.  While the paper was drying, I went ahead and colored the grass with markers.  When you could still see water sitting on the paper, I misted the stamp with water and then stamped on the watercolor paper.  Because I wanted this background image softer, I misted the stamped image with more water, let it bleed a little, and then dabbed off the water with a towel.  The flowers were then inked with markers, misted with water and stamped over the background.   Oh how I’ve missed playing around with silhouettes with this technique.

Now I have a challenge for you today.  I’ve been getting emails from some of you saying that you subscribe to my blog, but I never see you comment.  I love it when you leave a comment, because that is one of the ways that I get to know you!  I’ve made some great friends through my blogging and sometimes actually get to meet them in person.  Anyhoo, here’s my challenge!  Leave me a comment, especially you subscribers that are to shy to comment Smiley from millan.net, and I will pick one lucky winner to receive this card!  You have until midnight EST tonight!  Can’t wait to hear from you and thanks for stopping in today!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted but check your blog each morning while having coffee. Love your card. I own that set so will have to try to duplicate your card. 32. Gorgeous, Sherry, just gorgeous!! Now, Sherry, you really need to do this technique more often. I absolutely love to see the cards you make with this technique.

  33. I read your blog in my google reader, and I don’t often come over to comment. I know I should really make more of an effort to comment on blogs that I like because the inspiration they give me is invaluable, and I know how much it means to me when others comment on my stuff.

So, all of this to say, thanks so much for the inspiration! I love your blog, and read all of your posts.

  34. Hi Sherry. I am one of those who loves to receive your email but I have never visited your website until today. I am always amazed at your creativity and layers of detail in all of your projects. Your work is very inspiring.

  35. I’m a lurker too! I check your blog every day and wish I had all your stamps! Great card ideas so thank you for letting us lurk!

  36. Hi Sherry,
I just stumbled across your blog today. What a gorgeous card! I haven’t used that set in awhile, but seeing yours has me itching to get it out again! Thanks for sharing such a lovely idea.

  37. Yup…that’s me…the shy one…bwahaahaahaahaa!!!! Love your card, missy…glad you had a wonderful 4th!!!!

  38. Hi Sherry,

I am another one of the shy ones that reads your blog daily and I have done for the past 2 years or so and never left a comment. I love the colours and techniques you use and have learnt a few things from reading your blog. By reading your blog, I get a sneak peak at the some of the Stampin Up stamps that we may see coming in our next catalogue (I’m in Australia and we don’t get the same catalogue’s – we normally get them the following year) and can put them on my wish list for when they become available here. The stamp you have used in this card only came in our catalogue issued in April this year and I keep looking at it. I think the time has come to buy this stamp and give the watercolouring effect a go that you have used. I might not comment, but I do enjoy your blog and will try in future to leave a little comment every so often.

  39. Oh, Sherry. This is really gorgeous! I love these colors and I’m really loving that lattice die.
