Thumb Prints!
I thought I would post this project last night, but I got a little
. . . . clean the kitchen, make something to eat, clean the kitchen . . . .
My card today only took about 2 days to complete. On Saturday night I water colored the image and if I must say so . . . . it was absolutely fabulous. The colors were just right and quite frankly, it was the best water coloring that I’ve done in a long time. I set the image aside to dry and began working on the actual card base. After an extended length of drying time, I picked the image up and began sponging some ink onto the edges. WELL . . .
just a little speck of color not dry and a big old fat thumb and you not what you get . . . . red thumb prints right in the middle of the image . . . . between the stems. It wasn’t salvageable. I tried! So out came the distress re-inker palette and I tried again. Making sure there was plenty of drying time (because I could use the heat tool since I had gold embossing) I let the image set overnight. Much to my dismay there are still some thumb prints . . . but hey, we have to go with what we got.
The first go at water coloring was actually better than this one . . . the colors were lighter and not so dark. I got a little heavy-handed with this one. The background paper is sponged and sewn to another cardstock panel before placing on the card base. After I had my layout, I thought the top corners looked a little nekked, so I added some brads on each side to complete my triangle.

This is just gorgeous! Great job on it! Kathy
Mornin’ Sherry! I LOVE this card. Even if you like the other image better, this one still rocks!!!!!!!!! Good luck with your doc this am….I was just wondering if you had it released yet….it is a pretty minor procedure as surgery goes…..you will just hate the dressing!!!! It gets in the way! Just remember to move your fingers after surgery, yes, including the one that catches!!!! If you control your swelling(by making a fist and straightening out your fingers A LOT!) you will control almost all of your pain!
In a word this is gorgeous. Thumb prints did you say thumb prints well I don’t see any and I just want to say that you covered it so well. The DP and your border punch makes the whole card pop. I’d call this card a distressed beauty. TFS!!! Sherry I love your work.
Beautiful! I thought you were going to say that the thumb prints actually added some bling to your card…haha!
Stunning!!
Oh, Sherry! This is positively stunning! I can’t imagine that the other one was better! Thanks for sharing this fabulous card!

This is so gorgeous! I just hate it when I ruin an image like that - drives me nuts! Kudos to you for getting back in there and starting over - well worth the effort!

Your creation is beautiful!! I love it! As I read about our problem with thumbprints, and having been there, done that, I had a thought on salvaging your first piece. I used to do tole painting and did some on watercolor paper and on fabric. In such cases of the thumbprints, could you just use your brush to add a little more moisture to that area and add a little touch of ink from your brush to give that very watery watercolor background look? Spattering was also a great way to camouflage things like that (speaking from lots of experience).
Just mask your main image if you don’t want spattering there.
