Smiley from millan.net I’ve got to tell ya,  Little Elle is sick with a corneal ulcer.  This is the second time this has happened and we don’t know why.  Her little eye has looked like it has a cataract  and she hasn’t been able to open it.  Thankfully today she looks better and her eye is open.  We went to the vet this morning for a follow-up and the eye is still not healed so I’ll continue with the drops and pain meds.  We go back on Monday for another follow-up.

In the meantime, I finally get to take the Copic Certification class on Friday.  Oh YEAH!!!!  So, in preparation I thought it might be nice if I practiced a little.  I so rarely use my Copics anymore, choosing to watercolor instead.    I’m planning on spending a couple of crafty days working with my Copics so I don’t feel like a real fool when I get to class.  Here’s the first card I worked on last night.

JFFPetuniaApril21

I colored the image with Copics, die/cut embossed with Spellbinders™ Circle Nesties, masked it off with Eclipse Tape, and then air brushed the background.  I had a little problem with my sewing machine while sewing the background together.  I had to improvise with some double stitching along the top of the border.

That’s all I have for right now, but I’m sure I’ll be back!  Thanks for stopping by today.

  18. You did an awesome job on that image! I don’t think that you need any lessons :)!

  19. Your card is beautiful, and your colouring is gorgeous too. I much prefer using watercolour too, but probably just need to practice using alcohol based colouring instead. I don’t have Copic markers but have quite a few Pro-markers, and Whispers permanent dual tip markers which maybe similar/same? UK manufactured and they’re alcohol based too.
I hope wee Elle’s eye gets better soon.
    hugs

  20. Your technique for colouring in the image is beautiful! It’s so dark and rich. I love the card you made to go with it too. ( Hmmm…wonder which came first, the image or the card?) Hehehe! Doesn’t matter since they complement each other so nicely.
    Thanks for sharing! :o)

  21. Hi Sherry, I hope Little Elle is feeling better and better!

I met you briefly at the Copic Certification class in Chicago 2008! Now I can’t remember if you were in the class or just dropped by to visit. My memory is just pitiful. :o) It was a great class!!

    Coloring is soooo much fun!

    Take care and STAY POSITIVE!!

  22. Did you say your taking a class? Your a natural with the copics. Your focal point is beautiful. IMHO it looks perfect. Good for you for going to class to be certified. I like the scalloped layer too. I hope Elle feels better soon. I hope you do a tutorial on copics and the airbrush. I sure would love to see that. TFS!!! Sherry. 😀
