Good morning!  Last night was the  last night Mallory is home for the holiday break so Mr. Stodgy took us all out to dinner.  Mallory and I finally settled on a seafood place down by the river and both Kate and Mr. Stodgy met us there after work.  The night skyline of Louisville was beautiful and the weather was perfect to see all the lights reflecting off the river.

When we got home Mallory finally got our craft night together in the studio.  She’s been trying the entire break to finish up some paddles for her sorority sisters.

I think she thought I was going to do it all, but I had news for her little butt . . . she had to work on it too!  Of course she had already finished the background on a prior break . . . this time we added the grunge flowers and alphabet.

This one I had to show you because she used canned air and metallic alcohol inks . . .  just way too cool!

She was very pleased with both of them, and I have to say that from when she first started making paddles, these rock!

I also had some happy mail today!  Last week my friend Glenda Brooks, posted some flowers on her blog that I absolutely loved!  They were so unique and I left her a comment about them . . . . LOOK WHAT I RECEIVED TODAY!

Some of the flowers that she made just for me!  Look at the depth and detail on these beauties!

I’m gonna have to try some of these with a little BAD Sherry twist!

Well, I guess that’s all I’ve got for today!  I have a blog hop to prep for tomorrow . . . .

until then, remember life is short . . .  embrace the adventures of the day!

  1. what are the flowers made of? The paddles should be a big hit…no pun intended.

  2. Are those Longaberger baskets I spy there on your desk. I’m a bit of a basket nut. Also, do you choose to only let part of your post feed into Google Reader on purpose, or did you just keep the default setting. It saves the reader time if they don’t have to click through – and pictures are more likely to grab our attention. Just an idea – you may have reasons you prefer it this way. Bye for a bit.

  3. Awww how sweet to craft with your daughter! Those are great paddles…so creative! And those flowers you received from Glenda are amazing! I would love to try to make those…love them! Thanks for your wonderful blog….take care!!!

  4. Great paddles and guess what? I’m a Sig Kap, too. I went to UCM in Warrensburg, Misssouri, and loved the sorority life. Were you also a Sig Kap? Those flowers that were sent are gorgeous and I’ll be anxious to see how you make some similar ones that have the Sherry twist to them. Happy Day!

  5. These flowers are incredible. I went to Glenda’s site and she mentioned a U Tube video but didn’t say how to find it. Do you know? Thanks.

  6. Great paddles! How wonderful that you and your daughter can work away together.

  7. The paddles are really neat, Love the flowers, can’t wait to see your twist on them!

  8. LOL I’m drooling over the Hoosier cabinet in the background.

  9. Mallory’s a cutie and her idea of the paddles is adorable. They are so pretty. Love Glenda’s flowers, she has some great projects always.
    Thanks for sharing
