Smiley from millan.net Happy Thursday!  Not only is it Thursday, but its also race day . . . . good golly I love Race Week at Daytona!  I’m going to try and go over to mom’s to watch The Duals with her and Uncle Billy.  I’ve got a big blog hop tomorrow and I’m not quite ready . . . okay, so I haven’t even started my project yet!

It’s gonna be a fun one so I hope you come back tomorrow!

I was feeling a little BAD yesterday – a little naughty Smiley from millan.net so to speak!  It has been a very long time since I’ve done blatant BAD girl humor and simply felt compelled.   All I can say is . . .  Damnation it was fun!!!!!

Remember my girl, Millie?  I so love her!  I think I was inspired to ink her up from my recent conversations with the owners from Art Impressions at CHA.  I was telling them about one of my favorite Millie cards and how we NEEDED a certain sentiment.  Have I told you that eclectic Paperie will be carrying their Girlfriend line?  Well if I haven’t, they will be!  I so can’t wait until the come in.  So here’s what I’m thinking.  If you like Millie and you think that you absolutely NEED her, send Daisy an email and let her know that you think eP should carry Millie too!  Yeah . . . . that’s it, email Daisy!

Without further ado . . . I bring you Millie!

Millie Outside

Of course she is celebrating so she must be wearing red along with her leopard high heels.    You’ll notice she’s not wearing socks because

Millie Inside

she has on matching underwear!

I know you’ll forgive  me for feeling a little feisty.  Who knows, there may be more of these coming.

Needless to say, the sentiment was computer generated . . .  but if anyone is reading and wants to make this sentiment in red rubber, let me know!

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures of the day!

Smiley from millan.net Oh my BADness, it’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for another What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  I didn’t get to participate last week and I really did miss it.

So here’s my work table today . . . before the after stamping cleanup.

Here’s the card I was working on . . . my entry for the Making Art Challenge on the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group.

SherryCheeverMakingArt2

The challenge this week was to make a card with a chipboard flower and use pigment ink resist.

The chipboard flowers are some I’ve had for a few years now.  I stamped the background (from Studio 490 Art by the Number) in Snowcap pigment ink and then covered them in Tumbled Glass distress ink.  The leaves were die cut from Spellbinders™ S4-321 Nested Leaves in GrungePaper and then inked in Crushed Olive.  The sentiment (from Studio 490 Flower Art) was stamped on cream cardstock and then die cut with S4-310 Labels Eighteen.

The designer paper is some new that I picked up from CHA.  It’s from Fancy Pants and called It’s the Little Things.  This will be available from eclectic Paperie once the site is back up (it’s down for some upgrades and I couldn’t get a link for you).

I picked up some seam binding recently too.  I bought 100 yards of white so I could dye it to match what I was working on.  For today’s card, I dyed it with Tumbled Glass, misted it with water, scrunched it all up and then blew it dry.

Well, that’s all I have for today.  I’m heading back down to the studio to pick things up and start on my next project.

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures that come your way today!

Happy Tuesday!  I’m finally starting to get my days in line and actually remember what day it is.  I’ve been a little confused!

Yesterday I knew I needed to get into the studio and work . . .  but work on what?  That was my big dilemma.  I think maybe my mojo is still cruising around out there, but I knew I had to start somewhere.

Its been a very long time since I made a card or sat down at my sewing machine, so I figured that was a good place to start.  I also came home from CHA with some of the new Graphic 45 Curtain Call papers and had a feeling that I NEEDED to make something with them.

SherryCheeverMusicOfTheSoulFebruary15(5)

When I saw this page in the 8×8 pad, I knew immediately what stamp I wanted to use . . . an old one from Stampabilities, Take Time . . .  This is one of my favorite sentiments and one I haven’t used for awhile either.  To tell you how old the stamp is, the price on it is $3.99.  When was the last time you bought a red rubber, wood mounted stamp for $3.99?  The front side of this paper has the dancers and musicians with the music and then when you flip it over, it’s just the music.

I cut a border with the new Spellbinders™ S5-042 Fleur di Lis Doily Accents and decided then to use the S5-043 Fleur de Lis Doily Motifs to put my sentiment on.  The edges of the paper were sponged in Vintage Photo Distress Ink and the sentiment is stamped in Black Jet Black Archival.  For an added touch I die cut the smaller dies from S5-050 Rose Creations from the side of the paper I trimmed down.  I liked that side because it has a piano keyboard . . . way too cool!  To finish off the card, I added a big bow using 1.25” Black 100% Silk May Arts Ribbon.

Well I guess that’s it for me right now.  I hope y’all have a great day and remember . . . life is short (how well we’ve found that out this month) . . . embrace the adventures that come your way today!

Oh my heavens . . . I haven’t been here for so long!  I’ve had so much going on here at home that yesterday was the first day I’ve truly walked into the studio since returning from CHA.   I really didn’t forget about y’all!

A week last Saturday, Mallory called from school and was very sick and we told her to go to the emergency room there.  She went, found out what was wrong, was treated and released all on the same day.

On Monday morning Mr. Stodgy woke early with problems breathing and drove himself to the emergency room.  He called me around 7:30 and woke me up, then told me what he had done and wanted me to come down to the hospital.  By the time I got there, he was no longer in the ER, but had been admitted.

In the meantime, Mallory was getting worse and I was monitoring her via text and phone to see if we needed to bring her home.  Which we did end up doing Tuesday morning.  To make her story short, she was allergic to her medicine and by the time I took her back yesterday, she was doing much better!

Mr. Stodgy on the other hand was not doing so well.  He was in congestive heart failure and had had a heart attack.  Finally on Friday afternoon, after a battery of tests, blah blah blah, he was released and is resting at home for a few days.  He was actually released to go back to work today, but I fought him on it and told him he had some vacation days he really should take.  The man has never ever taken a vacation day . . . . never.  Well a few weeks a couple of years ago, but that’s been it.

I had to laugh because he did tell me the other day he knew he really needed to stay home and wondered if I could stand him being around the house.  Why of course, honey, I answered . . . . I’ll be in the studio, I need to work!

We are also working on diet and other life style changes around here.  Luckily and hopefully, I’ll not be the lone non-smoker anymore  . . . let alone the only one that will eat chicken instead of insisting on having red meat with every meal.  I told you it was a big life style change!

So that’s the story of my vanishing act.  Now lets talk about how I’m trying to get the mojo flowing and back into the groove. You know, its been three weeks since I’ve really put my mind to creating.

I think what I’ll do is create a separate post for my card.  I hope you don’t mind!  For some reason I feel that I need to not glob up a card post with all this other information.

Happy weekend.  It doesn’t feel like the weekend  to me but hey . . . I’ll go with the flow.  Today I finally ventured into the studio to put all the crap (and some GOOD stuff too) away that I lugged home from CHA.   GOOD stuff = Graphic45 papers, Unity stamps, Maya Road embellishments, out right FUN play things!  Crap = lanyards, catalogs, buttons, blah blah blah!

While I was sorting and storing, I decided to get a little crafty. The Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group has started to have challenges and the first one is this week – – Making Art! Challenge #1 – – Make an ATC using scallops and a butterfly.  All of the challenges will be based off projects in Wendy’s books.

So here’s my submission.

SherryCheeverMakingArtATCFebruary5(4)

Since I used Studio 490 stamps on the flowers I posted before, I decided to add one to the ATC (hey a girl can take a shortcut every now and then).  The base of the ATC is illustration board that I covered with Ranger Inkssentials ATC Sticky-Back Canvas.  I colored the canvas with the Wrinkle Free Distress Technique using Dusty Concord and Tumbled Glass.  I added some extra Dusty Concord around the edges before I finished them off with Vintage Photo and then gave the entire canvas a spritz of Turquoise Perfect Pearls Mist.

While at CHA I watched Wendy work with her Clearly for Art line and knew that I had to have some.  The butterfly is composed of two pieces . . .  the bottom is GrungePaper and the top is Clearly for Art Modeling Film with the image stamped on it as well.  Too darn cool!

ATCcloseupButterfly

The frame is die cut from illustration board using Spellbinders™ Rectangles.  The stamping is the background from Studio 490 It’s More Flower Art and the sentiment is from Art-Fully Said.

I’ve my 7 Gypsies ATC Carousel sitting on my desk for months now waiting for me to be inspired with an ATC.  This is my first one for my carrousel.

That’s all for now I suppose.  I hope you have a great weekend and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures of the day!
