Good morning!  I hope y’all have had a good week so far and are looking forward to the weekend.  My plan is to spend the entire weekend in the studio and try and get ahead of the game a little.  There’s so much going on and in the midst of it all, I’ve been having a few medical tests.   I have another test on Monday and I’m hoping to be somewhat prepared for next week by getting a few things ready in advance.

My project that I have to share with you, is also being showcased on the Graphic 45 Blog today.  It’s all about Graphic 45 and wood so I hope you hop on over and visit to see what the other designers have created.

Y’all know I like to junk store and search for things to alter.  For this project, I started with this wood recipe card box:

RecipeBoxBefore

I had already sanded the box when I took the photo, and you can definitely see the rooster detail that had been there before.

The box was then painted black and embellished.

Of course I had to do some sanding after I painted it, just to give it that well-used worn look.  Just for the fun of it, I added a Graphic 45 Metal Tag.   The sanded areas were covered with Vintage Photo Distress Stain.

RecipeBoxTop

The flowers on the top were die cut from the Steampunk Debutante Collection – Fantasy Floral, Victorian Transformers and Steampunk Debutante papers, using Spellbinders™ Grand Peony and Carnation Creations.    The leaves were die cut from GrungePaper with Spellbinders Foliage, than painted with Peeled Paint Distress Stain.  The flourish was painted with Peeled Paint and once it was dry, Peeled Paint Distress Stickles were added.

RecipeBoxFlowers

The edges of the flowers were sponged with Antique Linen then shaped and assembled.  A corsage pin was inserted in the middle to work as a handle when dipping the flowers in UTEE (Faux Porcelain).

RecipeBoxBack

The original hinges on the box were replaced with Graphic 45 Metal Hinges.

RecipeBoxBottom

Graphic 45 Metal Button were placed on the bottom for feet.

I guess that’s all I have for today, except don’t forget to visit the Graphic 45 Blog to see what the other designers made!

Thanks for stopping by!
