  1. Oh it is wonderful. I love the purpose of it and applaude your resolve. It is easy to get into that slump, I know…… so don’t beat yourself up over it. Truly wished I lived closer because I too need to loose some weight and just get back to “living”. Anyhoo, your canvas is truly beautiful…… here is to a truly “Happy” New Year. Hugs

  2. Sherry, 2012 seems to have been a hard year for lots of us. Lots of family and health stuff seems to be making the rounds. I love your canvas. The flowers are awesome. I don’t know if this helps, but I have been dealing with the aftermath of cancer for a while now. I can tell you for myself that creating is the best medicine. Journaling helps me. I get to vent is a safe, private (unless I choose to share) place. I am glad you wrote something so we can offer encouragement from time to time. We all need that. I have been a “follower” for a while now and I really enjoy your body of work. I hope you allow yourself more creative time and begin to feel the magic again. thanks as always for sharing.

  3. Sherri, you are amazing. An amazing talent, to be sure, but an amazing person. I am happy to “know” you. I understand how life can seem overwhelming and it is easier to sit on the couch so I truly admire your resolve. Keep your chin up, dear girl, for there are many, many out here who are in your corner!

  4. A beautiful creation Sherry…very inspiring.All the best for 2013.

  5. I hope you and your family have a happy, healthy new year. Keep up the good work and spoil that beautiful baby (just a little…lol)

  6. What a fantastic, motivational piece… the background is so gorgeous in those delicate shades, and your floral decoration, with that amazing crackled heart is brilliant!

  7. If you have noticed another unusual slump in the cushions of your sofa, it’s because, I’ve been right there with you sister. Last year was not my best and try as I might, I just couldn’t get past the feeling of failing at so many things. Your canvas says it all to me and are truly words to live by. I’m so glad you and the little one are bonding; after all, what are grandmothers for, if not to let them lick the spoon!

  8. What a beautiful piece of art. Happy to hear you are feeling better. Weight struggle here too. It is not easy but I just stick with the WW program. Thank you so much for sharing your blog with us all. I wish you everything you wish for. Happy New Year.

  9. Stunning Sherry and what a great sentiment to act as a reminder for you. Thank you for all that you do, your work and advice have been a real inspriation and encouragement to me! Looking forward to a joyful 2013!

  10. Thanks for sharing your personal story. You’re an inspiration to so many of us because we’ve had many similar days. You’ve brightened my own attitude and given me resolve to make 2013 a great year. Thanks!

  11. You inspire me in so many ways Sherry! I too highly recommend Weight Watchers, or if you are doing it on your own, then eat as many fruits and veggies as you can get down (very healthy and leaves less room for the bad things!) Know that we are mostly all fighting the same battle, and as my Dad used to tell me, “Keep your chin up!”

  12. New to mixed media art, you are amazing in the art you provide all of us with.

I LOVE your website!!!! I always get excited when I recieve an email from you.

  13. It will be wonderful to have you on my email more often. The flowers on your project are fabulous again. Best wishes for a better 2013 and lots of time spent with your grand daughter. We have 5 grand daughters and they are all wonderful.

  14. This is amazing. I love the sentiment. We both are going to FLY ABOVE IT this year. Together we are going to make 2013 a fantastic year!!!! Love you sister dear.

  15. Your inspirational project starting out for 2013 is wonderful; love the sentiment. Understand your words regarding life being a little on the tough side on some days, but am glad you’re able to see the positive side. I look forward to your blog everyday and can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2013; you’re my inspiration, friend!

  16. Sherry, Welcome to 2013…I’m glad you’re back and I hope to see you often. I know how you were feeling, I too have pushed through 2012 and am happy that a new chapter is unfolding. This year, I will turn the pages for myself! I put on some unwanted but most surely earned pounds that I started shedding before Christmas. I think that’s the first sign of moving on is when the weight begins to move off….So hang in there Sister…..

Your line about the chocolate frosting made me smile….Isn’t being a granny wonderful. I think we need signs that say, “What Happens At Granny’s, Stays At Granny’s”

    See you soon…..Keep Creating!

  17. Girl! HELLO! Good to see you here! 🙂
I’m with you on not missing 2012 … hopefully, prayerfully, 2013 is going to rock for all of us! Your canvas is beautiful as well as a wonderful reminder – maybe you should make them for all of us? Hey, I can wish … right?
Love your Hadlee/Frosty story – sounds like my house! lol

  18. What a beautiful and inspirational project. You are still blessed with more creativity than even you know. I wish you all the best in the new year! Remember to soar with the eagles!!

  19. Happy 2013 Sherry!! What an inspiration to start us all off on this 2013 adventure! Love your project and your attitude. Please don’t be so hard on yourself….you give so much to others there is only so much left for you! I’m excited that there will be more emails from you! Love every one of them.
All the best to you and yours for a happy and healthy 2013 and beyond! I do have a question: you said you used ink spritzer to add some flecks of Krylon 18kt Gold Leafing Pen to the canvas in your project to finish it off. How do you do this? Love it if you could explain….I’m new to this stuff.
Thanks so much for all you do! Rock on Girlfriend!

  23. This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing such a personal creation! So motivating and inspirational though! Too often we are caught up in the negatives that life throws us. We need to soar above it to get the big, positive picture! Good for you for getting moving!
I hope you have a truly wonderful 2013! Congratulations on your new granddaughter, too, btw!!!! Nothing is proof positive like a new baby!!!

  24. I love your beautiful inspirational art piece. You could sell those! I’d love something like that on my wall. After 2012, I hear you on your post. Alot of tough health issues and sad things have gone on this year, and I too have been a couch potato! On the good days you just want to relax and veg because the other things have been too just too much to deal with all at once. I wish you much good health and happiness this new year! May you be blessed with many wonderful things, and lots of creativity! Let’s hope we all get off the couch and support each other during trying times.

  25. Hi Sherry,
I have followed you for awhile and know that you make the most amazing flowers..EVER!!! This is over the top beautiful!!!
Take one day at a time…it works for me 🙂

  26. Sherry,
Thank you for sharing your story and your wonderful talent. You are an inspiration in so many ways. I love what you do with flowers. You and Hadlee are so lucky to get to spend time together. She’s too young to remember right now, but when she’s older she will treasure those precious days with her Grammy. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful creations in the new year.

  27. I’ve been following you for some time and so enjoy your creativity, especially your collages done on wooden bits. I hope and pray that Mallory gets properly diagnosed…it must be a huge worry, and the worrying, unfortunately, can eat up a lot of energy. Your new granddaughter surely is the highlight of your life..what a sweetie! Just remember that we out here in blogland do care and are cheering for you , Sherry! Life IS an adventure, so carry on!

  28. Hi Sherry congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter!
    Woohoo for your sister!!!

  29. What a delightful canvas project! Love your flowers and the colors you chose. Keep up your spirits and hope the year 2013 is better for all of us!! Keep healthy and happy.

  30. Oh Sherri, I won’t blather on except to say that I can totally relate with lots of those feelings. I hope that 2013 brings us all some much easier things to endure. I’m so happy that you still find time to stop and say hello through all of it. And on a lighter note, I can tell you that your canvas is FANTABULOUS! I love those flowers and that perfect sentiment! Now give that sweet Hadlee an extra little hug from me!

  31. I’m right with you on your feelings about 2012. I lost my precious mother on June 1st, and I struggle with it every day. 2013 will be better. I love your blog and thank you for all your inspiration. Your flowers are the most fabulous flowers EVER. WE can do this.

  32. Sherry…wish I could just give you a big hug. Sometimes, Life throws us a real sucker punch of a year. I’ve had them, and know that just getting through them is a major accomplishment in and of itself. Being a care giver is incredibly exhausting. I don’t think you were just squandering time ….you were trying to find some sort of equilibrium to get yourself through all that the past year held for you. But, give yourself a pat on the back…you made it! Sometimes the simple act of turning a calendar page from one month/year to the next is all it takes to give us some real hope. I’m so happy for you that you have Hadlee on board now. Her sweetness and life will re energize and renew you. Enjoy her!

As for your beautiful work, I was so impressed with your zentangles this past year. You took to that like a duck to water! You also produced some wonderful altered art. Give yourself credit for managing to create anything in the middle of that whirlwind called 2012!

I appreciate the beauty of all that you do, and pray that 2013 will be a more joyful abundant year. And, I love the watercolor flowers. Hugs!

  33. Sometimes life just sucks and we do our best to get through and move on. I am so un-inspired when I’m upset or worried about my girls…so I completely understand. I hope things get much better this year for you! Message anytime you need someone to vent to. hugs!

  34. Sherry, your post brought tears to my eyes. I don’t know what it was about it, but 2012 was such a difficult year for so many I know. One of those years where you’re thinking, yeah, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. This was, with one exception, the hardest year of my life and I know what you mean about turning turtle and crawling inside a shell. I also am resolved to make this year one with a positive outlook, even if I cannot control events, because even when we try we find out we cannot. This is a lovely start to the year and hope to see many more such creations from your imaginative fingers.

  35. I’m glad you’re back, Sherry, and want you to know that you’re cared for and have been missed. I know you’re going to have a better year. With your family, friends and cyber friends, you have a strong support group who loves you and wants the best for you! Love your art project and look forward to seeing more of your talents.

  36. Sherry,
I started following you when Kim said you may be one of the instructors for Stampin’ Around Indiana. I admire your work and your love of life is infectious.
I too felt the same lack of interest when our studio was lost to a fire 2 days after Thanksgiving. It seems we just got going good when we were struck down. A trip to my home and family really helped me. We are all grounded by our family I think, and I needed some reminders of that.
I do hope your family and friends remain an inspiration to you and you are blessed to get going when you need to. Some days we do need to “waste time” reflecting, but it is what grounds us too. We all share a common love of paper crafting and you are one of those leaders who we follow to get our grounding. Have blessed New Year! Dolly

  37. That is beautiful. I’ve always loved your flowers. You are the reason I began hand making my own flowers. Thanks for the inspiration.

I truly understand what you are going through. I have been in an emotional funk for about a year now. I was hardly did any of the things I loved (crafting). I was only crafting every now and again. Sometime life throughs so many fast balls at us, it’s hard to duck them all. This takes alot out of you. I’m coming out my funk, and getting back to being me again. I glad to hear you are doing the same.

Enjoy that precious little one, because they grow up so fast.

  38. Fabulous, fabulous piece, Sherry. I’m glad you’ve decided to fly again! Hugs.

  39. Reading your post Sherry made me want to cry. I feel so bad that you had a horrible year last year. I do have to agree though that 2012 was a year that I think a lot of people want to forget. But it is a new year and a new you! Time to pick yourself up and realize what an amazing and strong person you are and count your blessings for the wonderful people you have in your life. I wish you the best year ever in 2013 and beyond!

Your work is always beautiful! I have admired it for a long time. I don’t usually get to comment much, but I want you to know that there are people who really care about you! 🙂

    hugs….
    Melissa

  40. What a gorgeous canvas, Sherry! Keep it close at hand to inspire you daily! (Maybe it should sit beside your bed or hang in your bathroom!) As always, your flowers are fabulous and SO inspiring!! Love you!
