Let’s get the particulars out of the way before I go into my project:

  • Each of the companies will be giving away a prize randomly drawn from their designers’ blogs as follows:

EP: 25% discount on a future order
SNSS: $15 store credit
TJN: Great Gifts CD or any TJN CD of winner’s choice

  • The winners will be posted on each company’s blog by Sunday, December 9th.
  • To be included in the prize drawings, please comment by midnight Friday, December 7th.

For participation in the hop, I was sent the Great Gifts CD from Technique Junkies Newsletter,  Christmas Joy Stamp Set from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps, and a package containing sheets from the Echo Park – Winter Wishes Collection, along with embellishments from eclectic Paperie.  I was asked to pick one project from the  Great Gifts CD to make and decided on the Candy Crayon Box.

I followed the tutorial on the CD for the Candy Crayon Box, then took liberties with the embellishments on the outside.

On the CD, the candy inside the box was Rollo’s, but since my favorite if good old Hershey’s Milk Chocolate . . .

I was able to cover two bars and make them fit without crowding the embellishments on the wrapper.

And one more of the candy inside.

That’s all for me and I hope you enjoy the hop and find some great gift ideas along the way!  Thanks for stopping by!

Peace on Earth Heirloom Ornament!

Good morning!  Wow have I been spending lots of time in the studio and I’m slowing ticking off all the CHA projects that I need to get done.  Just a few more to go and a couple of blog posts and then I’ll be able to think about decorating for the holidays.

Yesterday I finished up a project for the Quietfire Creations Blog. You know it’s one of those that you’ll have to read more about and see more photos over on the Quietfire Creations Blog.

Snowflakes and Faux Batik!

Wow I can’t believe I did it . . . but here’s the last project for the month.  I hope you can stand another snowflake tag.  Well even if you can’t, I’m probably not done making them.  I do believe though that with this one I have just enough tags to go with all the presents that will be under the tree . . . that is IF I get the tree put up.  Right now things are looking that promising that I’m even going to have time to decorate for Christmas.

SnowflakeFairdustTagNov30

The base of this tag was made using the Faux Bleach/Batik Technique.  The snowflakes from the new Quietfire Design set, Snowflakes are the Butterflies, were stamped in VersaMark and embossed in clear.  Mist sprays made with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls and Tumbled Glass/Shaded Lilac Distress Ink Refills were misted over the embossing.

Spellbinders™ Create-A-Flake Three was used for the snowflake, which was covered in Glossy Accents and then sprinkled with Krystallos Vintage Glass Glitter.

The sentiment, stamped in VersaMark and embossed with Queen’s Gold Embossing Powder, is another from Quietfire Design.

This really is all from me today.  I have another project to get ready for the eP Blog tomorrow . . . .

. . . and then I have a Spellbinders project due Monday (which shhhh don’t tell anyone), is for the CHA Sneak Peeks that we’ll be doing prior to CHA.

Snowflakes and Butterflies!

Good morning!  Well I’m still playing with the watercolor paper and embossing and I’m still making snowflakes!

Yesterday in the mail I received the newly released Quietfire Designs set, Snowflakes are the Butterflies.  What a great set to go with my snowflakes!  I couldn’t help myself but to make another tag with snowflakes.

I’ve posted this over on the Quietfire Creations Blog today.  To see more photos and to get all the details on the tag, please visit the Quietfire Creations Blog.

Embossing Watercolor Paper!

Happy Monday!  I was able to get some crafty time in the studio this morning . .  . which was really nice.  I put Hadlee in her swing and while she dozed, I was able to get in 4 episodes of Malibu Country and make a Christmas tag.

SnowflakeTagNov26

I’ve had this idea to try watercolor paper in a Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities™ Folder.  I know that watercolor paper embosses well in Nestabilities® and it’s one of the papers that I love to work with quite often.  Because watercolor paper is thicker than normal cardstock . . . and knowing that normal cardstock sometimes splits when embossed . . . I wanted the watercolor paper to be damp when I ran it through the Grand Calibur® for a couple of reasons.  First I didn’t want the paper to split, but secondly and most importantly, if the paper was damp I knew the embossing would be deeper.

After die cutting the watercolor paper with Labels Eleven, it was misted with a combination of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink Refill, a smidgen of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls and water, all mixed together in a mini mister.   When the watercolor paper had absorbed some of the water, but still damp, it was placed in the Holiday Magic M-Bossabilities Folder and embossed.

Here’s a close-up of the background where you can see not only the embossing, but also the Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls that were mixed in with the water.

SnowflakeTagNov26CloseUP

The snowflakes were die cut/embossed with Create-A-Flake Four from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, covered in Glossy Accents and then sprinkled with Vintage Glass Glitter Diamond Dust Fine.

SnowflakeTagNov26CloseUPSnowflake

The bits of flourishes were die cut from a manila tag with the flair from Venetian Motifs.  The flourishes were then covered front and back with Krylon 18kt Gold Leafing Pen.

The sentiments are from the Sweet ‘n Sassy set, Christmas Joy.  They were stamped in Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz Ink on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and then die cut/embossed with Labels One and Back to Basic Tags.  The larger sentiment was mounted on another piece of watercolor paper that had been misted with the Distress Ink/Perfect Pearls mist, then die cut/embossed with Decorative Labels One.

SnowflakeTagNov26

The ribbon is seam binding dyed with Tumbled Glass and then spritzed with the same mist containing the Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls.  The white ribbon is some silk that I had laying around, misted only with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls and water.

I suppose that’s all for me today.  Time to think about something for dinner and work on finishing up a video.

Thanks for stopping by today!
