Smiley from millan.net I am so glad today is Tuesday and my busy, busy days are coming to an end.  I have a big meeting here at the house tonight (a sorority thing) and I spent yesterday trying to straighten things up so we wouldn’t look like total pigs.  They’ll have to deal with my dirty windows and a few cobwebs . . .  but hey a great housekeeper I’m not.  I would much rather create!

Thank goodness I was able to make a couple of extra cards over the weekend . . . Because now I have something to share with you today!

Of course you remember that I recently attended a class by Karen Lockhart at Papertrix.  When I was shopping at the end of the classes, I could not resist picking up a few Halloween stamps.  Actually, the minute I walked in the door of the shop, they just jumped right into my basket . . . there was nothing I could do but purchase them.  The Haunting Witches Dress was one that jumped in!

The dress was stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored with Copic Markers.

The web on the bottom, the bodice and the collar were highlighted with a Gelly Roll Stardust Marker.  The dress and the layers below were die cut/embossed with Spellbinders™ Labels Eleven.  The sentiment “haunt couture” was die cut/embossed with Grommet Tags and the bottom was was made with Classic Scalloped Edgeabilities.  On the inside, but not photographed is the sentiment “witchie . witchie . screamie . screamie . happy . happy. halloweenie!”  You’ve got to LOVE it!

I guess that’s all for today, except . . . thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures of the day!

Can you believe that it’s Smiley from millan.net already?  The days and weeks are flying by.  Heck, it’s already time for school to start again.  Kate goes back to work next week and we move Mallory back to school the following week.  The school term summer has gone by fast.

I’ve been wanting to make cards with the Karen Lockhart images we worked on Monday and today I got the first one done.  The hold up has been that I couldn’t find the right paper to go with the images.  Yesterday I found it . . . some old Making Memories paper, Homespun!

Pears from Class

The image on this card was one that we worked with the stylus on and colored with Prismacolor Pencils.  It also the one I got jammed in my die cutter and couldn’t get out without some effort.  In this close-up you can see all the tiny little lines where it was under too much pressure.  I actually think they add to the image and I love the look.

The card is also a size that I haven’t made in a very, very long time.  Plain and simple just seem to work with this image.  The edges of all the paper was sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then it was all sewn together with a background layer of cardstock.  I even have a white base . . . I know!  So odd for me.  The seam binding is the original color and not even dyed.  No I do not have a fever  . . . well, at least I don’t think so!

The image is die cut/embossed and layered on Spellbinders Labels.  The border is die/cut embossed with the new Spellbinders Classic Scallop Edgeabilities.

I’m heading to the studio to work on some late projects that I need to get done.  Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . . life is short, embrace the adventures that come your way!

Good morning!  WOW what a day I had yesterday with Karen Lockhart.  I left here very early to drive the hour and a half to get to Nashville and Papertrix.  Of course I was a little early (I was giving myself plenty of time in case of traffic on the interstate) which gave me some time to chat with Karen before everyone else came in.  She’s everything I had heard . . . funny, fantastic and of so very creative!  If you ever get a chance to take one of her classes (and you haven’t before) DO IT!

Here is just a sampling of some of the things we worked on.

After class we were able to go to Papertrix and do a little shopping . . .

Oh and I can’t forget to tell you  . . . I met Gretchen Wilson!

me with Gretchen Wilson

She’s from West Lafayette and came up to introduce herself to me.  I think there will be some road trips including Gretchen . . . watch out Joan (Joan’s Garden), we might just surprise you one day!  Oh and speaking of Joan, I’ll be doing some special projects for her soon . . . very soon . . . like next week maybe.

Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by and embrace the adventures of your day!  You don’t want to miss anything.
