Bling Baby, Use Bling!

Well, I’m back!  I finally got into the studio and worked on my WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge card!  Candy is the hostess this week and her challenge to you and the Red-Hot Mommas is to use bling.  Check it out on the Rubbernecker Blog and play along with us!  The bling I decided to use is the new Ranger Rock Candy Distress Stickles.

They are on the snowflake and thankfully it looks like the snowflake has been handled over the years and the glitter has worn off!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day!

One Can Short of a Twelve Pack!

Published by Sherry Cheever under Rubbernecker

Well, here it is Wednesday . . . Smiley from millan.net . . .  and I’m not the least bit prepared for anything I’m supposed to be prepared for!  Confusing?  It is for me too! Smiley from millan.net

Mr. Rubbernecker drove the trailer into Louisville yesterday afternoon and from 2:30 or so, I was busy until 9:30.  I got Mr. Rubbernecker to the airport, amidst traffic snarls on the interstate, around 4’ish and by the time I got back home, I had just enough time to get ready for sorority.  I decided on the way home from the church, that it was just too late to go into the studio and stamp for the WACKY WEDNESDAY  Challenge.  I suppose I should have held up on the box I posted Tuesday for Wednesday . . . a little too late now! Smiley from millan.net

So, here’s what’s gonna happen!  Today is the Rubbernecker Stamps WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge.  Candy is the hostess and you can check out her challenge on the Rubbernecker Blog.  Because there was some confusion last week on a checkout code, even I was confused, Smiley from millan.net we want to make things simple.  If you upload a card to the Rubbernecker Blog in the WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge post, you can use the code WW and receive a 10% discount on your entire order!  We are still giving away a 40% discount code each week, but it is such a simple way to get 10% off!  Please check out the challenge and play along with us this week!

I’ll be back later with my challenge card.

hehehehe . . . I’m Up!

Hey it’s Tuesday!  Good morning!  I had such a great day yesterday playing with the shitzes, moving furniture around and basically just putzing around the house.  It was such a lazy day but I actually got some things done that needed doing.  I also started trying on some old clothes in my closet and am tickled I kept those “too small” jeans, etc.  Because they’re not “too small” anymore!  Some of them are even a “little too big.”  WOO HOO!  I’m slowly getting to that 30 lbs lost and have no intention of quitting anytime soon.  Since January, I have been on a “gluten free” eating plan (notice I say eating plan because this is not a diet).  I have come to realize that for my health and well being, I must strictly keep myself in check with cookies, cakes, pies, bread, etc.  Mallory also went on a gluten free diet this summer and her desire to have breads and cookies have enabled me to find many gluten free choices at the health food stores.  For both of us, gluten free has become a way of life and healthy living.  This isn’t something we have chosen because we want too . . . it is a medical must.  It’s amazing how much better you can feel, even when you don’t realize you feel bad to begin with!

Didn’t mean to babble about that, but that’s just where my mind was running for a few minutes.  Maybe because I was looking for a pair of black pants to wear right before I sat down to write this post.  Yes . . . . that must be it!

The project I have to share with you today is actually another sample for one of my classes.  I never grow tired of making these little boxes  . . . they are so damned versatile!

Mallory asked for one of these to use on her desk at school, so I suppose I better be looking for some fun and funky paper for hers.

I leave you with one final thought:

Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says “Oh Crap, She’s up!”

Graphic 45 and Beeswax!

Smiley from millan.net Good Monday morning!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and got outside and enjoyed the weather.  It was great here in Southern Indiana, 70’s and cool at night.  Perfect weather to get out and enjoy walks with the little shitzes!Smiley from millan.net  When I wasn’t outside, I was buried deep in the recesses of the basement working away in my studio.  More playtime!  I could hardly stand it.  I’ve had some ideas running through my head for months now.  I was only waiting for a little time when I didn’t have pressing commitments and time limitations.Smiley from millan.net

Remember this beeswax frame I did for my mother as a Mother’s Day gift?  Ever since I worked on that piece, I’ve been wanting to do another one; and since I’m still on a learning curve, this weekend was perfect!

One day at CHA all us girls were sitting at a table resting, and someone from the Graphic 45 Booth walked up to our table.  Because a couple of us had on their buttons, we each received a free packet of Graphic 45 paper.  I couldn’t have been more delighted since I had been longing for the Botanicabella Collection.  I knew deep down that I had a special project for this paper  . . . more beeswax art!

This is what I came up with on Saturday . . . a canvas that was covered with Garden Suite and beeswax.

There’s lots of dimension going on here.  I kept adding layers of cardboard to building up bases as I went, finally ending at the top with another diamond panel.  I lost count of how many layers of beeswax I ended up adding.  I sat the canvas up in my sitting room when I was done so that I could keep looking at it and decide if it was done or not.  At first I thought about adding a bow at the top that would hang down the back and let me hang it on the wall.  I also thought about adding some more panels below the canvas, but it was just too thick to punch with my crop-o-dile.

This morning I went out to my spare cabinet in the garage and found the perfect idea for finishing the canvas . . . an 8×10 black frame!  I went back into the studio, picked a piece of coordinating Graphic 45 paper and when to work.

Here is the finished project, ready hang in my sitting room!

Here’s a close-up so that you can see all the different tiers and panels.

And don’t forget to look at that butterfly.  It was part of the paper that I trimmed out, covered with beeswax and then found some old gold beads to add as the body.  I recently purchased some gold wire that was perfect for the antennae.

I know I need more practice with this technique and will keep working on projects as time allows!  This is such an addicting form of art.

So, that’s all I have for today!  I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Finally Got To Stamp!

I can’t believe that I finally made enough space for me to stamp.  After the mad rush of CHA projects and then class projects, my work room was a total mess and I couldn’t find a thing!  I’m one of those that have to put everything away when I’m done and my work area clean when I turn out the lights.  When I don’t and things start to pile up . . .  well, it drives me a little crazy!  I also lost my fridge to Mallory and I gained some new stamps and tools when I was in Colorado.  I had to readjust some, so that’s what I did yesterday.  I’m not quite ready to show you pictures or anything yet however.

Since I decided to clean yesterday and not stamp, I never got to the WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge.  I also forgot I had a meeting last night and had to run out at the last minute . . . no stamping time there either.  I got up this morning ready to stamp!
