Clean and Simple from Me!

Hey  . . . it’s me . . . Sherry!  Have you missed me?  I’ve missed y’all!

I honestly don’t know where the month of December has gone and how it came to be the end already and I’m still trying to get it all together.  I’ve been a little tired this month that’s for sure  . . . new rising times and bed times for this Grandma.  5:30 am comes awful early and then I can hardly make it a couple of hours after Hadlee leaves for the day until I’m ready to hit the sheets and start all over.  But I have to ask you . . .

Hadlee

isn’t she just precious?

She’s growing leaps and bounds and even though I’ve been terribly exhausted . . . I wouldn’t trade my days with her for anything.  I’m truly blessed!

Apart from being tired, my mojo took a walk one day and so far . . . hasn’t returned.  I’ve got another week or so to try and find it before Hadlee comes back from the holidays so with any luck . . . it’ll be just around the corner!

Sadly I’ve found myself in need of a few sympathy cards over the last week and that’s what I worked on today.  I wanted something classic, clean and simple without too much going on.

Now to find out all the details and such, you’ll have to hop over to the eP Blog and take a look  . .  . but as you can see, it is exactly what I wanted . . . clean and simple and completely different than what I would normally do.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Quietfire Designs 2012 Christmas Hop!

ChristmasBlogHop2012_logo

Good morning!  Today it’s my turn in the Quietfire Designs Christmas Hop.  This is Day Three of the Christmas Blog Hop and if you missed Day One and/or Two, here’s our schedule:

Remember to leave  comments as you go, to be eligible for the draw where you can win a grab bag of great Quietfire Design rubber stamps!  Each Designer will randomly choose a winner from the comments on their own Blog Hop post, so make sure you’ve commented by midnight Friday, October 19th.

Before I start with my projects, I want to show you the 2012 Christmas Stamps from Quietfire:

Quietfire-Christmas-2012-web

For my first card, I used the stamp #5713 Christmas Waves A Magic Wand and Graphic 45 Nutcracker Sweet 8×8 Pad.

ChristmasWavesAMagicWandCard

The sentiment was embossed in gold, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Classic Ovals.  The sentiment panel was then outlined with a Krylon Gold Leaving Pen and backed with a panel die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Floral Ovals.  This panel was added to one die cut/embossed with Spellbinders 2012 Snowflake Ornament that had been covered with vintage glass glitter.

As an added embellishment to the card, I layered a vintage glass covered snowflake made with Spellbinders Create-A-Flake Four.

The layers of the snowflake were die cut/embossed from white cardstock, that was then misted with a light solution of Tumbled Glass Ink Refill and water.  Once dry, each layer was covered with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with vintage glass glitter.

Now for all you readers out there who like to mass produce simple, elegant Holiday cards, I’ve got a great one for you!  Actually, this might very well be my card this year . . . it took me less than 30 minutes to figure out the design and assemble the card, so I know that to mass produce these it will be very easy and rather quick.

ChristmasTree

The side-fold card measures 4.25 x 6.25”.  The tree from Flourished Noel was embossed in gold, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles.  Actually each layer of the card was die cut/embossed from white with Resplendent Rectangles, with the edges being outlined with a Krylon Gold Leafing Pen.

ChristmasTreeINSIDE

The sentiment, Seasons Greetings, was embossed in gold on the inside of the card.  No ribbons or other adornments to make a bulky envelope . . .

Well, that’s all for me today!  Don’t forget to leave a comment for me and for my fellow designers for an opportunity to win a grab bag of great Quietfire Design rubber stamps!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Quietfire Designs and Spellbinders!

Good morning!  I know this is Tuesday, and I should be posting a tangle, but I got a little Smiley from millan.net yesterday with something I should have been working on the last few days.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed my new sidebar, but it was announced last week on the Quietfire Creations Blog and in their newsletter that there was a new design team . . . and I’m one of the new designers.  I was fortunate enough to spend some quality time with Suzanne, owner of Quietfire Designs,  at Winter CHA last January, and when she emailed asking if I would be on the design team . . . of course I had to say yes!  I’ve been using her sentiments for some of my framed pieces, etc., for quite some time now.  I really do love the calligraphy designs and how well they work with altered pieces.

One of the new releases she sent was made specifically to coordinate with Spellbinders™ Labels One – Happy Family Days.

p-2895

I decided to incorporate the new M-Bossabilities Framed Labels One and Bitty Blossoms.

HappyBirthdayAugust2012

Neenah Classic Crest Solar White was used for the embossed panel.  The sentiment was stamped in Schoolhouse Mix’d Media Inx, then embossed with clear embossing powder.

HappyBirthdayCloseUpCenter

The flower was die cut/embossed from red cardstock with Bitty Blossoms.  After the flower was assembled, the edges were sponged with Jasmine Mix’d Media Inx.

HappyBirthdayCloseUpFlower

The leaves were die cut/embossed from white cardstock, stenciled with Mossy Mix’d Media Inx and then misted with water to let the green ink run.

I suppose that’s all I have for now.  Thanks for stopping by today!  Oh my gosh, do you realize that I think I just posted a clean and simple card . . . well clean at least and simple for me!

Girlfriends!

Happy Tuesday!  Yesterday I promised you some stampy fun today.  Well, I’m almost embarrassed to show you my card . . . . I’m asking myself now what in the hell was I thinking.  I actually think this will a test of styles . . . it will be perfect for it.

So I was thinking (oh my BADness, yes it hurt!) that I wanted black and white, with a pop of color.  It’s been a very long time since I’ve done that.  Believe it or not, this card is clean and simple for me . . . no sponging, no extra embellishments, (or for pity sake . . . what in the hell was I thinking?)

Well, we might as well get this over with . . .

GirlfriendsApril12(4)

As you can see, it’s pretty simple.  The image was colored with Copic Markers and then everything else   . . . well, simple black and white.  The embossing of the Spellbinders dies gave me a perfect edge to add some faux stitching (something else I haven’t done in a long time).  The image is fairly large in size and to find a die to fit left too much white space.   I didn’t want that.  I found the size of die I needed, marked the edges of overhang, and trimmed the image out to fit under my die when I cutting and embossing.  Pretty cool!

I think the next time I use this image it will be inky!

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures that come your way!

A New Challenge for Me!

Hey y’all! How is everyone this fine Thursday? I truly meant to have this post up earlier, but I spent some time with my uncle today and when I realized it was 4:30 I dashed home.

I was asked by Sharon Johnson if I would like to participate in the Stamp Simply 138 Challenge this week, and since I have decided to challenge myself with clean and simple, I said YES! (Don’t worry I’m not giving up my signature style, just challenging myself to get the mojo Smiley from millan.net going.) Here’s the catch however . . . I’m posting early. All the other designers will be posting later tonight around midnight or so but I have my Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge tomorrow and Sharon said it was okay if I posted early.

The challenge this week is Mother’s Day . . . to either create a Mother’s Day card or a feminine card. I used the JustRite Beautiful Blossoms Set, colored the flowers pink and kept the card simple. I did however add the faintest bit of sponging and stitching.
