The E-Team Gets Their Faux Postage On!

faux postage

Daisy has issued a new Faux Challenge to The E-Team . . . Faux Postage!  The E-Team are:

Please visit each member of The E-Team for an opportunity to win one of two $25 eclectic Paperie gift vouchers.  To be eligible to win, all you have need do is leave a comment on the blogs and random winners will be drawn from those comments (which can be left starting today through Sunday, April 1).  Winners will be announced on the eP Blog on Monday, April 2, 2012.

Since I already have a few cards made with a faux postage template, that you can find here, I decided to use the Spellbinders™ Postage Stamp Die Template, and make an individual postage stamp.

SherryCheeverEPFauxPostage

The postage was die cut/embossed from white cardstock using S4-438 Postage Stamps.  While leaving the paper in the die, the number background from Studio 490 Art Parts was stamped in Ranger Snowcap Pigment Ink, and heat set.  The figure was then stamped in Archival Jet Black and still with the paper in the die template, the background was sponged with Antique Linen and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks.  Once the paper was removed from the die, the edges were sponged with Antique Linen and dots were drawn around the edges with a thin black marker.

For a background piece, a second piece of blue cardstock was die cut/embossed from a larger die in the set.  The same number background was stamped in Snowcap Pigment Ink, then the paper was inserted back into the die template for sponging.  Colors used for sponging were Antique Linen and Rusty Hinge.  Lines were drawn along the embossed edge with a thin black marker.

Here you can see the backgrounds that were stamped with the Snowcap Pigment Ink.

The stamped flower on the image is covered with an extra Petaloo flower I had that was left over from another project.  The seam binding was dyed with a combination of Rusty Hinge, Brushed Corduroy and Fired Brick Distress Inks (to get it to match the Petaloo flower as close as possible).

Because I couldn’t come up with just the right look for the sentiment, after stamping it in Archival Jet Black, it was die cut from Spellbinders Long Rectangles.  It was then cut down on the sides to hang more like a tag.

Oh and the star on the eye was covered with a Krylon gold leafing pen.

I guess that’s all for me today . . . Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the hop!!

I’m sure that probably by now you are interested in what project I made for the hop.  Well, I won’t make you wait any longer.  The only requirement given, was that the Designer must use product from all three companies.  I decided on a wall hanging.

JustRiteSpellbindersW2SBlogHop September7

Using a page from Want2Scrap 8×8 Decorative Design Chipboard Album as the base, it was covered with Graphic 45 Fashionista Papers (Debutante and Haute Couture).  The edges were sanded away and then sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The shelf was made from a piece of hobby wood trim that was painted charcoal black, sanded in various spots and highlighted with Vintage Photo Distress Stain.

JustRiteSpellbindersW2SBlogHop CLOSEUPPOSTCARD

The postcard is made by coloring a manila tag using the Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique with Bundle Sage, Old Paper and Antique Linen Distress Inks.   Images from JustRite Stampers  Greetings from Paris were stamped in Ranger Archival Coffee and Fired Brick Distress Ink.  The edges were distressed and then sponged with Vintage Photo.  The frame and flower were both made with Graphic 45 Fashionista En Vogue.  The frame was die cut from printers chipboard with Spellbinders Labels Four.

JustRiteSpellbindersW2SBlogHop CLOSEUPCENTER

The label above was another manila tag that was colored with Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage and Fired Brick Distress Inks.  The image from JustRite Stampers Greetings from Paris was stamped in Archival Coffee and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Labels Four.  The edges were sponged with Vintage Photo.  The green leaf behind the trinket pins is Want2Scrap Embellishment Style A, that was painted with Peeled Paint Distress Stain and then covered with Peeled Paint Distress Stickles.

JustRiteSpellbindersW2SBlogHop CLOSEUPRIGHT

The trinket pins are Maya Road Vintage Pearl and Crystal.  The Pearl were covered in Lake Mist Alcohol Ink and the Crystal in Lemonade Alcohol Ink.  The flowers, using Spellbinders Rose Creations, were die cut from Graphic 45 Fashionista Le Fleur and Buttons A La Mode, shaped and then dipped in UTEE for the Faux Porcelain Technique. The center of each flower is a corsage pin that was colored with Lemonade Alcohol Ink.     The leaves were die cut from GrungePaper with Spellbinders Foliage and painted with Crushed Olive Distress Stain.

Well, I think that’s it for me and my project.  Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy the Blog Hop! Oh and remember, your comment counts toward an entry for a prize.

Just For Fun Color Challenge #25!

Happy Friday!  I hope you’ve had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend.  I don’t know where this week has gone . . .  it was here, now it’s not!

Today’s colors for the Just For Fun® Color Challenge are:

JFFCC25

We would LOVE for you to play along with us!  If you don’t have any JFF stamps, that’s okay.  You can play along anyway . . . we just want you to have fun!  Plus, you might win a $50 shopping spree at Just For Fun® and then you can buy some stamps.  Check out all the details of the challenge over at the Just For Fun® Blog.

The Designers playing along this week are:

Broni Holcombe
Kat Tucker
Sandy Sandrus
Starla Nelson
Roni Johnson
Glenda Brooks
Beth Moore
Margarita Ybarra

I know they would love it if you stopped by their blogs to see what they came up with using these colors.

More my card today I decided on something simple using faux postage.  I saw Debby do this technique last weekend at Stampaway and decided I needed to try it again.  Instead of using the stencil brushes like Debby does (because I haven’t developed the knack for them yet), I use my Ranger ink blending tools.

There’s a fabulous tutorial on this technique on the Just For Fun® BlogFaux Postage.

JFFCC25

That’s all I have today, but to say thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

Just For Fun Color Challenge #19!

Good Friday morning!  I have a number of thoughts running through my head at the moment.  One in particular is a sentiment I saw the other day . . .  Someday my cowboy will come.  I like that . . . nope, I LOVE that sentiment!  I think it will be on a card real soon!  I wrote it on the white board above my desk so I wouldn’t forget . . . . Smiley from millan.net  I’m feeling BAD, very very BAD!!!!

I suppose I should get serious for a minute.  Today is the Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge after all!  Now I have to admit that I picked the colors this week and I had a horrible time with them.  Many, many ideas went into the trash and the one I really wanted to do . . . well, let’s just say that it didn’t work either.

JFFCC19

We would love to have you play along with us!  You don’t have to use Just For Fun® stamps, especially if you don’t have any yet.  However, if you do play along, you might just be the lucky winner of a $50 shopping spree!   All you have to do is make a card/project using the above colors and post a direct link on the Just For Fun® Blog.

For further inspiration, you should also visit the blogs of the other Designers. They’ve got some awesome projects to share with you today.

Since I bombed on my major idea, I thought it would be fun to try my hand at Faux Postage.  If you’ve ever been to a stamp convention when JFF is there and you’ve stopped by the booth,  you’ve seen the Faux Postage Demo.  It is by far the best demo I’ve ever seen and I’ve never ever tried it.  There’s a great tutorial on the Just For Fun® Blog that Sandy Sandrus did for us.

That’s all for now!  Thanks for stopping by and remember . . .  life is short, make the most of the adventures that come your way.  I sure as hell am!
