Good morning!  I hope y’all have had a good week so far and are looking forward to the weekend.  My plan is to spend the entire weekend in the studio and try and get ahead of the game a little.  There’s so much going on and in the midst of it all, I’ve been having a few medical tests.   I have another test on Monday and I’m hoping to be somewhat prepared for next week by getting a few things ready in advance.

My project that I have to share with you, is also being showcased on the Graphic 45 Blog today.  It’s all about Graphic 45 and wood so I hope you hop on over and visit to see what the other designers have created.

Y’all know I like to junk store and search for things to alter.  For this project, I started with this wood recipe card box:

RecipeBoxBefore

I had already sanded the box when I took the photo, and you can definitely see the rooster detail that had been there before.

The box was then painted black and embellished.

RecipeBox

Of course I had to do some sanding after I painted it, just to give it that well-used worn look.  Just for the fun of it, I added a Graphic 45 Metal Tag.   The sanded areas were covered with Vintage Photo Distress Stain.

RecipeBoxTop

The flowers on the top were die cut from the Steampunk Debutante Collection – Fantasy Floral, Victorian Transformers and Steampunk Debutante papers, using Spellbinders™ Grand Peony and Carnation Creations.    The leaves were die cut from GrungePaper with Spellbinders Foliage, than painted with Peeled Paint Distress Stain.  The flourish was painted with Peeled Paint and once it was dry, Peeled Paint Distress Stickles were added.

RecipeBoxFlowers

The edges of the flowers were sponged with Antique Linen then shaped and assembled.  A corsage pin was inserted in the middle to work as a handle when dipping the flowers in UTEE (Faux Porcelain).

RecipeBoxBack

The original hinges on the box were replaced with Graphic 45 Metal Hinges.

RecipeBoxBottom

Graphic 45 Metal Button were placed on the bottom for feet.

I guess that’s all I have for today, except don’t forget to visit the Graphic 45 Blog to see what the other designers made!

Thanks for stopping by!

Good morning!  Another week down, another weekend in front of us.  So do you have any exciting plans for the weekend?  I’m thinking laundry, more laundry and then some studio time.  I need to catch up on some overdue projects.

Earlier this week Graphic 45 posted a Halloween treat box that I made on their blog.  In case  you missed it, I’m reposting today here on the BAD Side!

Good Thursday morning!  I know I have posted much over the last week, but let me tell you . . . I have been very busy with projects that I can’t show you just yet.  I know what you’re thinking . . . well that just bites!

Tuesday evening I had a sorority meeting and had a gift for the outgoing President.  It had been in the Vice President’s stuff (which was me) in my basement.  It was so tiny (1×1”) I didn’t want to drop it into a gift bag because it definitely would have gotten lost.  All of a sudden I remembered the new Spellbinders™ box templates.  You can tell I haven’t used them yet because they didn’t come to mind until late Tuesday afternoon.

I went to work quickly and came up with this gift box.

I used a Krylon Gold Leaf Pen to mark along all the edges for some added trim.

Sorority Gift Box Open

See how tiny the gift was  . . . wrapped in layers of tissue paper.

Sorority Gift Box Flower

Of course I could envision my “sister” keeping this box so I had to make the flower faux porcelain.    I think she liked the box  . . . she did say it was nice.

Anyway, I have to say that these little boxes are perfect for small gifts.  I can see folding up some money and using these as money boxes for Christmas or possibly even birthdays.  Before I forget, the box was 2” square when completed, and I’m sure if time is taken you will come up with something better than the above.

That’s all for me except . . . thanks for stopping by!
